After the TCU game it looked like more of the same as far as TE production goes. Mike Harrison has been a underrated and awesome surprise.

IIRC Lewis' offenses don't have a track record of using the TE very much, so IDK if we can attract a 4-5* TE...maybe coach them up? But MH as a converted TE is really working out well!!!!

I’m sure most of you saw Prime’s address to the team regarding slow starts. If you didn’t, Deion is aware and focused on starting games better and he put the onus on the coaches.

You only improve on things you prioritize. So it’s comforting to know Prime has made starting faster a point of emphasis.

To me that means scoring first, being up by at least a score at the end of the 1st quarter and at least two scores by halftime. It means establishing field position right off the bat. That means we begin drives closer to our 40 and they closer to their 20.

SC rushed for 7.3 YPC, 213 yards overall (vs ASU)
Cal rushed for 4.1 YPC, 196 yards overall
SC rushed for 3.8 YPC, 95 yards overall (vs CU)

Likewise, ASU has been woeful at running the ball.
They had 32 attemps vs USC, for 90 yards, 2.8 YPC.
CU had 45 attemps vs USC, for 193 yards, 4.3 YPC

On run defense, CU was gashed by TCU, Nebraska and Oregon.
CSU and USC could not run the ball on CU.

Diving deeper, Nebraska's QB (Sims) had the one long 57 yard TD scamper.
And a RB had a 44 yard scamper. This came with the score 36-7.
Those two runs accounted for nearly half of their production.
Nebraska did not dictate the game the way they intended to. CU

So, outside of the Oregon debacle, CU has shown better ability to defend the run.

If CU can force ASU to throw the ball often, which I think is likely if we come to play, I like the matchups.

Actually, TCU and NU had a lot of non-productive ones and a few big runs. USC had a lot of non-productive runs and one big one. CSU didn't have ****.

Oregon was an ass-kicking all around, so it's hard to quantify.

Throwing Oregon out, it really has to do cutting out the big plays and our run defense will be solid.

So choose to receive the ball first?

@TallBuff is on the road, so I'll be posting a look-a-like thread tonight or tomorrow.

You can make the photos bigger and higher resolution by right clicking to open them in a new tab and then changing the 146 near the end of the url to a larger number like 500.

Hearing discussion about this being a mid-afternoon game in Arizona, temperatures expected to be in the 90's.

Conversation about how the Buffs aren't used to that kind of heat.

I would be much more concerned if we didn't have a team that is mostly made up of guys who played high school and/or college ball in the deep south.

97 in Tempe is hot, 92 in Jackson MS with 90% humidity is worse.

So cool, compared to TCU?

Are we really worried about the heat? We played at TCU 4 weeks ago :)

4 been moved to the TE room. Something to watch. Probably won't play this week or next week at TE but with Harrison's struggles at run blocking and Yelverson or the other TEs not really adding too much value otherwise. This maybe a breakout move for Javon. We all know he's capable of great play, we just haven't seen it and maybe WR is just too hard at this level for his player type. I know he can play, TO wouldn't be working with him.
