We'll fire them *after* the January coaches' convention/meetings so that we can't recruit interview there and then hire their replacements after NSD. (We have to wait until after NSD so that we can see which old washed up NFL assistants are available after the NFL carousal stops.)

I do not know what's sadder- that I really doubt Wilner's right about coaches being relieved of their duties next week, or that 183 yards of offense can accurately be described as an "uptick."

Also- some of the names that you guys are throwing around (and non-names- looking at @manhattanbuff "the next OC is already on staff") are scaring me. Likely because one of them will be right.

The schedule on this has not been consistent the past 10 years or so. Early NSD has moved the first round of firing & hiring forward by about 3 weeks, which means if you're in the secondary market (your coach got poached in round one) you're either under the gun to move super fast, or, if you don't make the NSD deadline, there's not a really compelling reason to move until after the holidays.

I don't see that CU has ever allowed any external calendar event to speed up their firing or hiring, and I wouldn't expect this year to be any different. We'll operate on our own timeline, independent of anything else. Probably to our detriment.

Why the **** can't we do this? Good plan. Good scheme. Multiple options and looks on every play, but still pretty simple basic RPO and Options. The defense can't key on one thing they really know the offense will be doing. This is not 3D Chess. It's about schemes that present multiple effective options and looks. Our offense seems completely deficient in these important details.

And to go back to a prior comment I made about the reporters who cover our team, maybe it would be nice to discuss this level of detail? I don't understand the point of most football articles, which seem to simply recite the stats from the game and what happened when. How is that helpful or interesting? "They don't look very consistent." "The offense is struggling." "It was good to see Barnes have his first good game as a Buff." Sure. That's all true, and I understand it's hard to do more in the moments after a game. But, that's the approximate level of conversation and detail throughout the week. Honestly, is that interesting? (I'd really like to know: is this the sort of "coverage" that a regular football fan seeks and enjoys?) Again, I like the guys, and I think they work hard. I just don't understand what the point of focus is, but I suppose that's true of most football commentary.

To be fair, that was MM who did that and his reasoning was trying to give fired coaches a safe landing spot before landing another coach (which was very amateurish).

We'll see how Dorrell does on this, but this shouldn't take long, at least for the OC (firing that is).

The concepts are so well-knit together, and totally feeds into Lewis and all the other weapons we have in the RB and WR room
I would absolutely love to just have the whole Kent State staff tomorrow!

Also, MM was doing that at a time when CU didn't offer multi-year contracts to assistants.
 
Uptick? What an illusion!
We were vastly out-coached the last 2 games and 3 games ago, we were not out-coached. They fired their DC after that game because he was outcoached by Chev.
 
I am in the cut bait right now, if it's going to happen. Change the trajectory and start working the new schemes. + if it causes kids to hit the portal? better to start dealing with it now vs last minute

Exactly what I thought. BLew would be deadly in that scheme. Can you imagine having our skill guys, Broussard, Rice, etc. running in those open spaces? Ok, we need to block at some point. One small issue.
 
Has the Grahame Harrel as the next hot thing hype died out a little it seems? If Campbell gets USC job can’t imagine he doesn’t bring OC and many others with him from ISU.
 
So in seriousness, I believe chev is gone by weeks end.
What or who is KD going after? Let's throw some serious names out.
