CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

Why? There are a lot of great programs and regular tourney from outside the Big 6 basketball conferences. I'd argue that most, maybe all, of them would be less than they are in hoops if they decided to start competing for the top of FBS football.
It’s just my feeling. Those “basketball” school are just that. That’s their identity. It’s not CU’s.

I forgot to mention the Nebraska rivalry. That game gives them a highly rated matchup even when both programs suck

Those numbers were incredible in that case with both programs below their norms. Just think what those numbers would be like if both programs got back to winning football.

Let's say CU somehow gets an invite into the Big Ten by the end of this year. Let's also say CU goes 3-9/4-8 in 2022 like many expect.

Doesn't it become imperative to fire Dorrell at that point?

(I might be crazy, but the latter seems like the best news of all)

With those big pay days coming, firing Dorrell would be pretty easy for CU standards in that regard.

Fire Dorrell today.

Go to the Big 10 on hands and knees begging for forgiveness and repenting for the sins of letting football languish. Show them you’ll do anything and be bold haha

This wouldn’t bother me at all. Add in a few more to round out a 12-team league and call it good. BYU, KSU and Baylor (I just threw up a little in my mouth) would turn that into a very solid conference. Nothing that’s going to command the kind of TV deal that the B1G is getting. But remember this - the PAC still owns the PAC 12 network. There’s a lot of content in that group that might actually move the needle a little for distribution.

Todd's been on the job for a year now. Has he given any indication he's considering putting out the fire that's revenging CU's front porch?

After yesterday, the clear thing is that the ACC is the #3 conference. Only one left besides the SEC and B1G that has any elite programs. Plus they have a scheduling deal with Notre Dame for football. That doesn't mesh with them being locked into a long-term ESPN deal that will pay them 5th best (Big 12 passed them & the Pac-12 could add SDSU + UNLV to still be able to get a much better deal than the ACC).

No way the ACC schools with options (i.e., Miami with the SEC mutual attraction) stand pat and accept being the poors for the next decade+.

Listening to ESPN U Radio on Sirius/XM and they believe that tv viewership is still going to be a huge factor on who else gets invites.
That's all that matters (well, 90%, there are some other small factors). Read the article I posted. I found it very interesting. Shows how we got to where we are.

I was calm when it appeared that CU was on the verge of being left out of the PAC back in 2010 which CU eventually joined. I'm still feeling that same calm and just looking at the map, there's no way the B1G leaves USC & UCLA out on an island so CU would get that B1G invite along with Utah, Oregon, and Washington. If the B1G continues with divisions, CU would be in a division with USC, UCLA, UO, UW, Utah, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. It will be so much fun to see those sunshine boys from LA play in the snow & ice in October & November.

The SEC & B1G vultures will be circling around the ACC until that ACC GOR expires.

The ACC has 3 schools that add something and all three are prime expansion candidates for the SEC due to their location and also because 2 of them have annual games with SEC schools already.

I commonly catch myself thinking Clemson is in the SEC already before I remember they aren't.

That is essentially what I said here.

Way less than most people think.

The key independent variables here are general support for the football program and commitment to the football program at an institutional and fan level with the key dependent variable being (recent) football success, but the 2 independent ones are the key predictors for future success.

I'm imagining Les Grossman as AD right now.

B1G has their eyes on GT too. Think GT, UNC, UVA, and Norte Dame as a package deal to the B1G next decade. VT, NCSU, Clemson, and FSU to the SEC.

Not sure where the U goes though.

Sure, but a) Oregon/Stanford would seem like it’s be higher and a lot of people watch Texas football.
I would not be shocked if Notre Dame & Stanford became leaders of a group of independents with similar values which could form a scheduling alliance.

We could be looking at another situation like the old Big East - independent for football with a conference affiliation for other sports. National conference with members like ND, Furd, BC, Cuse, Pitt, Cal, Wake, KU, Baylor, etc.

Notre Dame, Clemson and FSU are the only teams that move the needle there in a tangible way.

I do not see what you tangibly gain with 20 team conferences where at least half the teams are filler.

I believe that UNC, Miami, Clemson, FSU, Virginia and Georgia Tech all have significant value. VA Tech would be interesting to the SEC, I think - especially if they have added Miami to give them a private school (gives protection against public disclosure of finances) and they'd have a path for dumping Vanderbilt.
