JFC get this school the **** out of this conference NOW

How, from a competitive standpoint? We'd be grouped together with 20+ other schools making the exact same money (and at least another 16+ in the SEC also making as much money), but we'd still be a school with way, way, way less presence in the NIL market.CU AD getting 100 million dollars a year changes everything.

i just realized that after USC/UCLA go to the big 10 the only national title in football in the pac 12 is CU. wow.

Because things were different back then than they are now. That was ten years ago. I think the landscape has changed massively since then.
Depends how you feel about that one Washington team in the 90s and a bunch of Cal teams in the '20s

Way to go out on a ledge there and take the contrarian positionI’m calling my shot. We’re left out because of the attitude toward sports at the school and our administration’s ineptitude. We land in the Remnants 10 Conference.

Cal was a powerhouse in the 20s. POWERHOUSE!
having had a bit more time to process all this, we are probably ****ed, but i think there are 5 scenarios other than total doom and none of them are burned to the ground scenarios that some other pac schools are now facing.
scenario 1: the pac holds together and adds a couple of teams from the g5. this is my least favorite outcome, but it will be regionally popular. this is the best outcome for the likes of wsu and oregon state who are truly in danger of getting totally left out. maybe even cal and stanford are better off with this outcome.
scenario 2: a merger/alliance between the remaining b12 and pac. i don't love this either and there is a ton of hair on it. wvu v. stanford is a hoot on multiple levels for example. plus, the geography of it all sucks, plus all the religious schools in with AAU public research schools is hard to envision. but, this is at least it is all conceivably possible.
scenario 3: the best of the pac and b12 reform as a new conference. this might work and might avoid the sticky issues of scenario 2.but this league would still likely need to expand and add some g5 in order to be tv interesting and relevant.
scenario 4: CU and maybe some other pac schools individually join the b12. we have been in bed with ****ty schools (ksu) and religious schools (baylor) before-- we'd have to choke down the bile and swallow our pride, but it will at least land as in one of the only surviving non-super conferences that has semi-relevance.
scenario 5: we end up in the big. this is the home run and least likely and most preferred outcome. i have already heard some pushback from some influential usc boosters that the travel schedule is set up to **** the la teams right now. there may be momentum for the big to add more western teams to create less travel nightmares and more geographic coherence. the question then is who do they add? reports say that the ucla/usc value add to the big is 100mm. no other pair or even 4 western teams delivers that much. so, it will be reduced payouts incrementally increasing over time for any new adds. i really think our best shot here is if they decide to add 4 rather than 2 otherwise oregon and washington will be the 2 added. if they go with 4, then the last 2 chosen will be between CU, ua, utah, and asu. we have at least a chance to be one of those last 2 of the 4 possible.
mostly, i am still pretty sure we are ****ed. but we aren't as ****ed as a lot of teams. sigh. i hate all this.
Big 12 just did your Scenario 1 for their conference. So I think that takes 2 & 3 off the table with 1, 5 and 4 most realistic. Either the P12 follows the B12 approach, the B1G further expands with western AAUs, or the B12 further expands to try to compete with the B1G & SEC.more i think about it, i guess i would be down with scenario 3 as a backup. if you took the 8 most interesting combined from the 2 leagues and then added 4 somewhat interesting g5 western schools, you'd have something i would watch. you'd go as far east as kansas, maybe keep a foothold in texas with tech and houston-- and then round it out with maybe csu, nevada, boise state, and another.... i would watch that.
Don't worry. I'm sure we'll be able to tune into PACN tonight and see reruns of softball games. So the news is out. Has been out. Was out yesterday.
No posting on Twitter, no email, not a peep from the University or its leadership whatsoever….
I wonder how many days until we get a whiny excuse and pitiful “trust in the Pac” post to be sent via carrier pigeon?
CU Admin. is so far behind the curve on everything else, I wonder why you think the whiny excuse will be delivered in a matter of days.So the news is out. Has been out. Was out yesterday.

CU hasn't been competitive in the Pac 12 so I am not sure why people are so up in arms about this. They suck in the Pac 12, but at least they will suck in the BIG with a hell of a lot of money. How, from a competitive standpoint? We'd be grouped together with 20+ other schools making the exact same money (and at least another 16+ in the SEC also making as much money), but we'd still be a school with way, way, way less presence in the NIL market.
I heard a rumor (after I made it up) that our AD was on a committee looking into the possibility of UCLA and USC abandoning the PAC12 at the same time he was on the committee looking into the best way to address NIL money coming into the CFL. We have been so far ahead of everyone else on these issues--at the (made up) committee level, anyway. And really that's all that matters. /sCU Admin. is so far behind the curve on everything else, I wonder why you think the whiny excuse will be delivered in a matter of days.

Oh, and lets not forget that our next TV contract is now totally ****ed Down to ACC money or worse because of these two asshole programs.I don’t think the June 30 date matters to the Big 10 and they’ll make their decisions when they want to.
The Pac 12 penalties are likely a childlike pittance in relation to the money and power they’re cultivating. They’re more interested in proactive work against SEC/ESPN and will make payments necessary to secure their future

These two asshole programs? Stop it. This conference is ****ed. You know why? Go back and look at the last 11 years. CU did this to themselves by joining the Pac 12. An institution that doesn't give a **** about football joining a league full of institutions who don't give a **** about football. And you people wonder why we ****ing suck?Oh, and lets not forget that our next TV contract is now totally ****ed Down to ACC money or worse because of these two asshole programs.
Its basically now the P2/M3/G5
Why would BYU go anywhere right now? They are in a better league than the Pac 12 right now.Rivalries need to matter in that scenario. Grab BYU & CSU in addition to SDSU and call it a day.
For as much as I’d like CU to go to the B1G, I’m not sure it is the right move because we couldn’t compete with Texas & OU in the Big 12 and the same thing with U$C in the P12. We won’t be able to compete with Ohio State & Michigan in that case and I think you should throw Penn State & Michigan State in that mix.
We already tried the Big 12 and PAC-12, what would be different about the B1G?
Yeah let's give him credit for that because its been such a smashing success for CU.For all the "Mike Bohn is a forward-looking super genius" love I've been seeing since he landed Riley and got USC to the B1G, let's not forget who got CU into the Pac in the first place. I seem to recall that there was smoke around CU to the B1G at that time (wouldn't they have rather had a CU/NU combo in 2011 rather than coming back to the table and taking Rutgers in 2014?), and CU going to the Pac instead of the B1G has been an absolute unmitigated disaster.
