CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

Rivalry with Utah and they had something with ASU before the Sun Devils left for the P10. In times of uncertainty, going back to what worked could be the best path forward. BYU can just tell the Big 12 they are not coming

UA, ASU, Utah, and CU might still go to the Big 12. If that happens, what pod will CU be part of since the two AZ & UT schools would be in one pod? I hope we could be in one with two Texas schools in that case.

First expansion call should go out to BYU and if that doesn’t happen, we might as well pack our bags for the Big 12.

Why would they do that? They are probably going to make $20M more in the Big 12 right now. Not only that, but why wouldn't BYU leadership tell schools like Stanford and Cal to **** themselves?

That's where the resistance to BYU has always come from.

There is a reason you haven't heard anything from CU yet. The longer you don't hear anything the better. Have some patience.

There won't be pods because the whole country is moving away from divisions of any sort.

Statement on Pac-12 membership changes​

A statement from CU Boulder Chancellor Philip DiStefano and Athletic Director Rick George:
The announcement of USC and UCLA joining the Big Ten came as a disappointment to all of us at CU Boulder. Despite this news, we remain resolute in our commitment to our student-athletes and will continue to provide them the resources for success both in the classroom and on the fields of competition.
We have been in constant communication with our fellow universities as well as conference leadership and will continue to work closely as this dynamic situation continues to develop. CU Boulder is a world-class academic institution with elite athletic programs and will continue to be a leading voice in the changing college athletics landscape.

Cal & Stanford might not be able to maintain their positions in the PAC without the LA schools with at least six schools potentially having new conference homes.

Getting BYU into the PAC might be what is needed to give PAC football a jolt of energy. Remember how much we hated Nebraska? So did every other Big 8 school.

If not, I’m going to be okay with a move back to the Big 12 with UA, ASU, and Utah in tow. We would get BYU on our schedule in addition to TT and our former Big 8 buddies.
 
There’s going to be a lot of stories flying around the next several months. Some will have us with a B1G invite. Basically every scenario that can be dreamed up is going to get floated by somebody who is supposedly “in the know”. It will make for entertaining theater.

There’s no hope for this universities football future, they’re F’ed. They’re f’ed because they don’t care about anything but academics. I’d love to say I had faith in this administration to do whatever it takes to get into the B1G but I don’t. They’ve proven time and time again they don’t care and the only faith I have is that they’ll somehow F this up beyond belief. I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re the lone idiot in the room committed to the PAC as we get left behind. To be completely honest no matter what happens, the conference we end up in will f’ing suck too.

The statement from CU is disappointing. I get the sense that they don’t care about athletics and they are totally trying to rebrand into a solely academic focus.

Why not do both? Look at Michigan, Texas, Stanford, UCLA, USC, etc. all great schools academically and athletically.

This sure doesn’t seem like an”fan friendly” move. Not to mention California and West Coast recruits will be playing a lot of games out of reach of family. But hey! Maybe I’m overrating that stuff. They will be able to recruit better on a national basis. And it’ll be interesting to see how this effects NIL money for their athletes.

Those f-heads would sell their souls if it meant they’re good at football again. I’m sure there are some fans confused by it but when the 100 million dollar check comes in nobody will care.

BYU IS NOT COMING. They will be making more money than they would here. They've also been told basically no by everyone when the conversation about them joining the Pac 12 has come up. Now that this league is desperate.....why do it? If I'm them, I'm telling Stanford, Cal, and the rest of this league to **** themselves. Stop talking about it. You're wasting space with this nonsense.
 
What really strikes me about the CU Admin is just how delusional they've become. They want to be known as an academic's first institution. Great. How is that working out for you with your 83% acceptance rate? How about rankings, while we've been neglecting the front porch for 20 years, you'd hope they'd show some progress on bolstering our stellar academic record. Instead, we've steadily fallen down the rankings of public institutions. CU should embrace exactly what they are: A middling academic school that provides an unreal experience for local kids and rich kids from out of state. Part of that experience is (was) athletics. Perhaps if more people wanted to attend they could be more selective on who they accept, rather than just taking anyone with a pulse and the means to pay full freight.

I'm a USC Alum (who admittedly, does not root for USC). But this move is absolutely necessary for a return to national relevance for the football program. And make no mistake, this is about football. The influx of cash and the improved competition was sorely needed for USC to get back in the national spotlight. Geography is a minor inconvenience. And sure, some traditional games (Cal, Stanford) will be missed. But SC will schedule non-con games with them to satisfy the alums. WIth this move, and Lincoln Riley, USC likes where they're headed.

We're Stanford without the academic prowess.
 
I don't know what people expect CU to say. They are not going to reveal if they are pursuing another conference affiliation and at the same time they do not want to commit to the PAC12 too strongly because they will look bad if they bolt later down the road. I am sure they are looking at options at the moment. Remember how other schools tried to torpedo us going to the PAC12 when it looked like Texas and OU were going, best not to reveal your hand. CU better be looking to do what is best for CU at the moment not the Pac12.
