This thread has no real information because there is no public real information. The only real information is fairly confidential at this point.
The most cogent post in this thread in days comes from a German posting after 1am.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

LOL

I 100% understand why there isn't any real information in the thread. The conundrum is how we ended up with 9,100+ posts of people mostly arguing about speculative intel.

Because the Allbuffs user base cares and this forum quite frankly wouldn’t exist if we didn’t discuss speculative intel.

Well, it should be noted that I’m a night person even during the best of days so I’m very very rarely in bed before 1am. If I didn’t have any real world commitments I believe my ideal sleep pattern would be from 5a-1pm.

When I can sleep in and just need to do uni work (aka I can set my own schedule) I usually never start before 1pm.

PS: Serious props for realising we yet have to set the clocks back.

Is there a worse thread on allbuffs?

I attended the wedding of one of the sports media execs in the bidding pool for PAC 12 TV rights. I can’t get any inside info. I’d be highly skeptical of anything posted by podcasters and bloggers and even legit newspaper writers. All of the info is either made up or planted info to drive an agenda.

How old was the bride?

*trying to move this thread in the direction of "interesting."

We agree. So what’s the number?

Paywall, but Wilner's newsletter dropped some stuff about SMU's valuation and Fox's role in media deal.

SMU is a given at this point. There’s no other Texas entry point other than Rice.

SDSU makes too much sense to pass up.

If there’s a chance that Gonzaga is in the mix… could there be a delay until they get bounced or win it all? I think GU is as good of an addition as there is. I don’t care if they do not add incremental $$. Gonzaga vs the P12 would be fun to watch and they help with the league rep.

And I never bought into the media rights deal first then expansion. B1G expanded first. That’s what we should do.

Oh there’s no way a media deal is announced and then expansion happens later. Maybe they both get announced together, but any media deal is contingent on whether they expand or not.

Heck, if you're going to do that then I think UNLV and UNM should be considered as an alternate option for non-football. MWC only pays about $7M per school and they could stay for football (like Hawaii) to still get most of that number while getting a significant bump via the Pac for other sports while we add some scheduling alliance stuff for FB to get content + home media market treatment for NV and NM with the Pac media negotiations. That would still keep open the option of adding Gonzaga and Wichita State as non-football.

12 for football with SDSU & SMU with 16 for basketball with UNLV, UNM, Gonzaga & Wichita State added could be a very attractive package.

Possibly. But I've also seen stuff where expansions are anticipated and pre-approved with escalators built in if they happen.

How about Creighton instead of the Shockers?

I don't think Creighton would ever leave the Big East. It's their perfect fit and pays at least as well for non-football as the Pac would. But, yeah, if they had interest.
