CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

CU might be the only school that’s on major networks the first three weeks of the season w/ no streaming (Fox, Fox, ESPN). Haven’t checked all schools but wouldn’t be surprised either.

BigXII: Were awesome! You’ll love us!
BigXII: 40% of our games are on streaming

only 40%? I think 100% of the ACC, Pac 12, SEC and B1G games are on streaming.

ACC:
streaming/broadcast/cable —> 11%/22%/66%

I guess its a terminology semantics issue thats kind of gray. Im assuming “Cable” is Satellite and Cable Channels like ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, FS1, FS2 which also appear on YoutubeTV Fubo and Sling. Which us consumers happen to recieve or think of as Streaming.

I think they define Streaming as probably Paramount, Peacock, and ESPN+, separate services that we have to sign up for.

Does that include Comcast’s overpayment?
Im 99% sure that reporting is based on the tax return. I dont know if the conference CFO included the value to cover that clawback as a reserve or chargeback or some other accounting notation. I suspect they already did in planning.

there's no possible way that only 11% of ACC games are available on streaming. I'll dig in later, but I'm calling BS/fake news on that.

40% streaming Wk 1-3, says a lot about how the rest of the season will shape up for them.

It’s in the mid $500M. Saw a chart on Twitter w/ all the conferences but can’t find it.
But across 12 members, so roughly the same right now.

The Big 12 media deal doesn't kick in until 2025, which means that $440m distribution is eventually going to be at least $600m the 12 members ($160m more in TV revenue than their current deal). Since the TV deal would increase pro rata for P5 programs that join, the per school distribution shouldn't really change, so the Big 12 is look at distributing around $50m/school starting in 2025, maybe more depending on the NCAA tournament with Houston and maybe UConn, Gonzaga and SDSU also being added.

I find it hard to believe the Pac 12 is going to get close to a $50m/school total distribution number.

at a glance, 100% of those games are available on streaming.

are we conflating "available on streaming" with "ONLY available on streaming"?

I, for one, would be highly vexed that the epic Syracuse-Colgate showdown was on streaming services only.

I thought this was supposed to be THE WEEK

Me too.

Next Friday will be the 12th year since CU announced the PAC move. That also will be about three weeks before June 30th. Nothing happens past next Friday, might as well put this thread on ignore.

Who knows. This is like debating if Sasquatch exists. We need to see the real numbers already.
