The pro leagues didn't put teams in LV based on the TV market share. LV folks sweetened the pot, to get what they wanted - building the image of LV as more family oriented, main-stream - not an alcohol/drug and gambling only place.Casino owners giving a crap about UNLV ??
If they saw they could get UNLV a national profile, it would add to that image.
LV wants good publicity and will pay a lot for it.

it saddens me that CU and NU parted ways. But they each had separate invites that took them different places. It was a business decision. At least we mutually agree to play when we can.
NU will never say their rival was CU preferring OU. They say their in conference rival is now Iowa. Like us their new home has not produced the kinds of matchups where their was a championship on the line that was spoiled by an opponent. Iowa is just their neighbor.
The pro leagues didnt like the Mafia that controlled Vegas and the influence they could have had that produced the Black Sox Scandal, Pete Rose or point shaving scandals. The idea that the players would effect outcomes over betting would tarnish any sport.

The landscape of attendance is changing and so might interest in football over all past Gen X generation
The two biggest and best attendance B12 stadiums are leaving for the SEC. Their avg stadium size looks smaller then P12 post departure.

Do not forget night games. I dropped my season tickets mostly due to scheduling of late games especially late in the season. One of my worst experiences was the 2013 USC game with kick-off at 7:30 with the temperature 29 degrees F and strong winds. It is a big reason the B1G does not want night games late in the season.

-ESPN had major layoffs
-Linear “concepts”
-Presidents and ADs not talking for a month
-SDSU not joining in 2024
-Traditional writers not seeing a deal
Here’s what I think is happening. Ourand and Marchand, traditional media, are talking to traditional networks like ESPN. ESPN is hurting, so what they’re hearing is true - exposure on ESPN will be limited.
However, it will be an untraditional deal. There’s going to be a curveball.
What if Apple is buying the Pac-12 Networks, turning it into Apple Sports Network, and getting it distributed on cable?
And selling a monthly DTC subscription as well.
That would make sense on the linear concept. And it would make sense why it’s taking so long.
This is what the P12 should have completed a decade ago but Apple would be a better negotiator than the P12.
*when I say distribution on cable I mean 100% coverage

When I covered Mich in the 90s thats the daytime conditions in Nov in the Big House. Its nasty cold there.
College football should be played in the daytime. But the TV people want something in return for the money they spend. And that ruins the experience for the fan.
