CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

It sounds like the deal is dependent on having 12 schools. But they don't have 12 and need 3 or more schools. These schools have never been acknowledged, only theorized to be SDSU, SMU and a mystery school. I don't see 3 schools jumping to this sinking ship of pirates looking to plunder before they bail.
 
I'm not sure why UA would rush at this point. It seems they have a cushy landing spot, they let CU take the heat for showing the Commissioner has no clothes, and their BOR would likely have to green light the move. They can take their time and do their due diligence.

In the end I feel pretty confident they come to the B12. The real question now is whether others will follow....I suspect streaming is the future, but for these purposes, CFB is not in the future. Streaming only with Apple will be the straw that breaks this camel's back. The P12-3 will likely survive in the short term, but it will have a pretty big dent in its reputation if they have to backfill with a bunch of G5's.

Nah, Big 12 is rumored to move on quickly and grab UCONN if Arizona says no. I would bet ESPN and B12 set a deadline for them to decide like they did for CU

They've done their due diligence and then some. They waited while GK kicked the can for a year only to be presented with this ridiculous deal today. USC, UCLA, and CU have already broken the seal on the Pac-12 exodus. If they wait longer, it becomes a big distraction into fall camp and the regular season. I can't imagine Fisch wants to answer questions about this while he's trying to get his team ready for the season. All signs point to them leaving eventually, might as well be this week.

While all those elements would be difficult to prove, the hurdle of proving that FSU's reliance was objectively reasonable is high bar. I'm sure FSU had multiple staff pouring over the presented figures, consultants advising them, trustees/presidents/attorneys with years of experience negotiating similar deals, and at least multiple attorneys redlining the contract at least a dozen times. It would be tough for FSU to claim that they entered into the GOR solely on what the ACC told them and that doing so was reasonable.

Personally, I hope they jump soon. But, allegedly GK finally put a deal on the table. I would imagine they would want some time to see if it really was the steaming pile of streaming everyone thought it was.

That's the way I read it
 
The Apple streaming deal could’ve been presented weeks ago, possibly months ago. CU leaving forced Kliavkoff to show his hand. He knew it wasn’t good enough and kept delaying hoping for something better. The big reveal here is that the negotiations were going exactly as reported by industry insiders (and honestly by the blogosphere as well).

A 100% streaming deal means you effectively get zero visibility and few subscribers outside the Pacific Northwest. There is no way Oregon or Washington go for that.
 
Holy hell, the Big XII might actually lose someone if this Pyramid Scheme plan from the Pac-12 is true. The DeVos family may demand UCF go to the Pac and prove their value the good old fashioned Amway way.

Unless maybe UO and UW get a bigger slice of the pie and no exit fee to go B1G. As observed so many times before by others, WSU, OSU and Cal are screwed. Stanford can always take their ball and go Indy, ASU can shamelessly go B12 and Utah, well who cares about Utah.

Quick question. the P12 is still under its current medial deal for this season correct? I wont have to get apple tv to watch games this year right?

The answer to this question appears to be "no." I doubt Apple invests enough hardware into P12 games that it will make any difference during the next cycle of negotiations. Being the first conference to go 100% streaming will not garner any advantage in the future.
 
If the Pac dissolves due to mass exodus, does Apple approach one of the other conferences as a secondary carrier and sweeten the pot there? It seems like they want to get into the sports game. (I'm not even sure how that would work.)

Correct. One more year limited to a package which has PACN.

I'm thinking Hulu+ next year to get my local channels or maybe just the most basic cable with an internet bundle and then stacking on ESPN+ and other apps.
