CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

Today's show goes into a more detailed reason why Yormark and others are hellbent on PE.
Early in this show the host also went over an article released today about the FUBO Tv & HULU Live merger and how it's all connected.
If you are interested in PE discussions, there's good content here.

I appreciate you posting it.

I also feel it's only fair to let you know that since I refuse to watch 2-hour podcasts on the topic, any future posts by me on this topic will be based on a healthy level of ignorance.

One comment that was made about why Streaming is more valuable is cross programming, including series, and a Library of old games for fans to watch.

If the Big12 could make a deal with say Amazon Prime, and IF ALL THE SCHOOLS TECHNICALLY OWN ALL THEIR HISTORICAL GAMES, then Colorado fans would feel great about having an Amazon Prime membership to watch the Colorado Games, watch other programming, and watch ALL of our old games.

Do we own the rights to all our old games, or does whomever produced it or did that game own the replay rights?

I would assume that CU has the rights and those transfer to the conference with which we're affiliated. All of the old CU games were in the PACN library to be broadcast there. I remember watching Miracle at Michigan and some others despite those being from broadcast networks originally. I would think that's a valuable part of the GOR deals. Not 100% sure, though.

I question if there's much value in historical games
There are a small handful that are fun to watch, but most, you're right, not so much.

But... they could be repackaged into another product old school nfl films style. Do some interviews with old coaches and teammates and show highlight clips of _____.

Heck, if someone did for Rashaan, or Kordell, and it was on right now, I'd turn the channel and watch to the end. Would even do that with non-buffs (eg M Vick's college career).

This guy has interesting takes on the state and possible future of CFB.

That was worth a watch. He did a better job than I ever explaining why this consolidation is very very bad for the game.

Bad Business #1. Fans of teams left out might simply stop watching.

Bad Business #4. Thats me. Ive stopped watching CFB except for CU out of spite for these changes. No bowls. No CFP games.

22 minutes into podcast, Greg is confirming that Colorado is Pro Private Equity. Take FWIW.

It probably makes more sense for CU and other universities like we were with in the Pac-12. If your university culture cringes at the idea of the public perceiving you as a football factory, it's probably a better situation to have an arm's length relationship with the athletic department. For those schools that already have a culture that the university will do whatever it has to do on admissions, policing, fundraising, grade manipulation and whatever else to win more football games, I'm not sure that PE would have much impact on performance.

Well yeah. It's pretty common knowledge that George and the boys have been talking to PE firms with an aim to be first in.
Jfc. There is no first mover advantage in pe for anyone but the pe firms.

First Gen always gets fleeced.

Let someone else be the giunnea pig*, learn from their **** up, and then do it right.

I'm looking at Boise or CSU to be honest.

As crazy as it sounds, pretty much all of our Big12 counterparts really want Prime to Stay at Colorado for two key reasons

1. Ratings and Viewership that benefits everyone in the league
2. Because they are not convinced he is a good coach and that Colorado can dominate

My two very good friends are Nebraska and BYU fans, and I have many months of reminding me that they kicked our ass
They believe that we won with #2 and #12 and they are gone
If the Big12 does not have Prime, it may likely be the 4th best and has even less chance of long term success than even the ACC
I love where we are headed with Prime, but as a snapshot right now, is that not the right situation we are in

NU is not in the B12 dude. It is in the Big 10.

Oh, geez, did not notice that for the past 20 years, wow
My point is that Prime is very good for the Big 12 and even though everyone in the league, as well as our old friends are not stupid enough to not realize that Prime and Colorado is good for the Big12 media and publicity, but with the examples of the beatdowns by Nebraska (P2 game), Kansas and BYU, many are not afraid of us. Point is they do not want Prime to leave, they want Colorado relevant, they want viewership, and they are not fearing us. That is all

I'm interested in what UCF, TTU, and OSU think about CU under coach Prime using your basis of 2024 game results.

Big 12 was always my favorite conference to watch outside of the PAC. It was basically Maction levels of offensive shootouts with better talent.
