CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

So I would assume that to mean FSU and Clemson are going to agree to lock into the ACC through 2036, meaning any further expansion of the B1G and SEC would come from Big 12 programs?
I haven't read all the way through all the articles so I may not have this correct, but multiple summaries I've seen said the exit penalties decrease in 2031, which is right around when the SEC and B1G renegotiate their deals. I took that to be a clause that FSU, Clemson, and maybe a couple others wanted in so that they could maybe get out around then for cheaper.

Guy has a source within the B1G and this what he is being told:
  • SEC would add #17 UNC, #18 NCState; possibly #19 FSU and #20 Clemson if they choose to go to 20.
Reeeeally feels like a stretch that a second team in NC, especially one with the brand/ TV eyeballs of NC State, is coveted more highly than a second team in Florida, especially one with the brand/ TV eyeballs of FSU.

I believe UNC is the most valuable brand in the ACC, and there's not a close second.

Think they are tied together in the UNC system

UNC and N.C. State are the lone ACC members in the UNC System, which is comprised of 16 public universities across the state. App State, East Carolina and Charlotte are system schools that have changed athletic conference affiliation in the past decade. Those league changes lacked the political weight of potential ACC upheaval along Tobacco Road. The Board of Governors consists of 24 members, who are appointed by the N.C. House and Senate to serve staggered four-year terms. In an interview with WRAL last fall, Republican leaders for each chamber shared their preference for UNC and N.C. State to remain in the same conference moving forward.

I don't think FSU & Clemson would stick around until 2036...I think there are too many burned bridges to expect those two to stay in the ACC for another nine years. The CFP contract expires after 2031-32 and the Big Ten's media rights deal expires after 2029-30.

The extension paves the way for the league to potentially finalize a settlement with Clemson and Florida State that would keep them in the conference under possible alterations to the conference grant of rights and the league’s revenue distribution structure, as Yahoo Sports reported in September. The sides, negotiating for months now, are inching closer to a resolution.

Exit fees could be reduced in that case.

As for Big 12 teams going to the B1G & SEC, I don't think it would happen during the 2030 round...more like the one after that.

So much info if you listen for the first 30 min.
FSU and Clemson want the ACC to be happy so that the lawsuits go away. If they do then Private Equity rises to the top.
So many moving parts happening. Many dominoes could fall. This whole thing is fascinating.

Now the B10 wants a piece of the PE pie.

re: UNC and NCSU.....i remember when Oklahoma and Oklahoma State were all ride or die, too. lotta grandstanding and motions in the state Senate and Poke and Sooner huggy buddies. How did that turn out?

It may be different with the consortium of NC schools posted above and I know NC is a state that does public education very well (along with Iowa).....still, I'mma take the money winning out on this one. :sneaky: ;)

Strategic Partners are essentially high functioning PE's, correct?
If our stadium is underperforming in the concession area and someone believes it could be 50% better, then could they not create a contract where the new entity comes in and upgrades all the stands and procedures, recoups its investment, and the school makes more?
