CU @ UCF - September 28 @ 1:30 PM MT Game Thread

I think CU needs to use more motion, use the 10 personnel less, the pistol more and agree with what you suggest to get pass rush D to back off. In regards to personnel.. Any reason Tyler Johnson not being given a chance to compete to start? He seems to be best offensive guard CU has and was the highest rated xfer iol.
Also, how come Buell not being given more playing time on interior D-line, he is much better than Barnes.. a good starting B&B would be the block bully and Buell. and then why not give Hood more snaps at CB and O Miller more snaps and targets at WR? I did not like Prime's answer that it is about practice only.. O Miller is a gamer. I think Prime needs to coach like he played.. using all he can to put himself and the team and players in best position to succeed in each game. Someone is giving him bad advice that it is all about practice and he needs to take charge over personnel, no favoritism, and be game day results based in how he decides things.. also be more active in clock management etc.. and if he is guilty of daddy ball regarding SS2, he needs to stop it immediately as it will only hurt both his son and the team.

You talking PFF grades?

The stuff where guys make guesses on a players assignment then grade them based off those guesses?
My eyes make me, personally, think that Carter is a better fit. The PFF Grades say thus far, Shilo is. To say PFF is not a really solid rating and comparison format is just stupid. Knowing now that Shilo has graded out better, I won't say Carter is a better fit again unless Shilo makes some blatant mistakes and grades out poorly from here on out. If you don't trust PFF grades, what would you trust then?

Odd comment.

Is it possible the problem with Daddy ball is not SS2's performance, but rather the offenses performance because of the say he has in plays called, players to be used for those plays and the personnel formation to be used in addition to being able to check and and out of run or pass plays. Just my opinion, but he should have less of a say and more of a say should go to Pat Shurmur and both he and the team would benefit from this.
In goal to protect Shedeur, what is going on with the players chosen to start or rotate in on the offensive line? and is there coaching up to snuff? Tyler Brown is said to be the strongest O lineman, yet on some plays while he might be strong like Tarzan he is playing soft like Jane.. how can this be? Is he being moved around too much, does he need time to learn or is he not being coached well enough? Is Loadholt coaching them up enough and how much help if any is he getting from other coaches? Could CU benefit from Loadholt having a second on hands coach to coach the O-Line? Why not have two or more offensive line coaches? Loadholt is in his first year. Maybe he would benefit from getting an experienced analyst or additional offensive line coach to help assist him? And like a broken record.. what happened and why is Tyler Johnson not playing, let alone starting?

I don't understand the situation with the OL. I'm not knowledgeable, but I feel like, at worst, our OL should be 'average'.

Which would be, I'm guessing, 2-3 sacks per game. Is 8 sacks in a game, proof they know we won't run?

They have a 'natural grass' field and likely 1st class drainage. There may be no where to drain to.

Yall acting like Shedeur is Cody Hawkins. He’s legitimately the best QB to ever play for this program and will be a top 10 pick. Stop.
Shedeur is an amazingly tough and talented thrower of the football, period, but why does he not dominate the games from start to finish.
I think he, Shurmur, and Prime are hurting his flow. He can make amazing throws, he can extend plays, but he is a schoolyard QB. Nothing under center, very weak ball fakes, quick release throws not happening. It feels like everyone thinks he is a brilliant QB and so smart and yet he is 7-9 as a starting Colorado QB

Dude...the majority of the football community doesn't take stock in PFF grades.

Like I said..it's guys who didn't play football taking guesses on what a players assignment is. That's literally what it it is.

Dies a good job of breaking down the issues with PFF.

They're especially unreliable when it comes to O line and defensive backs. Without a playbook for each play, they have no idea on coverage assignments.

Should have said, "based on talent" they are average.

Most of your take seems sound, like why the hell aren't we throwing more quick hitters, why isn't he using his legs more, etc... however, pointing to his record is a bit skewed. I know you've watched every game with care, and seen his Oline erode, his defense (last year) completely fail at the LOS, and the chaos of coaching changes mid-season or the one score losses. Thank God for Sheduer or else that win column might have a 1 in front of it.

I don't think anyone questions Shedeur's immense talent (if they do they are stupid). But I think there are questions about the offensive game plans and execution. Teams know that CU is going to drop back and throw all of the time so they are putting constant pressure. I think it is hard on the Oline when the other team is just pinning back their ears and going. CU is 3-1 that is great but we are entering a part of the schedule where CU is not always going to have enough athletes to dominate the other teams. I know it is "Jimmies and Joes not Xs and Ohs" but you cannot through out all strategy. CU on offense is too much like sandlot football and I suspect the defense is just average. Talented teams with good game plans are going to be tough to beat unless the team evolves.

I think Shedeur can be one of the greatest QB’s of all time, period. But to see the vanilla 7 on 7 offense we run is startling. The NFL is not going to have him play this way at all. He will be under center, he will be required to have good clean ball fake skills, he will throw mostly short balls quickly to just get positive yards, he will have RB and TE dump offs. We must help the OL with chips and doubles, and Shedeur needs to help himself with crisp ball fakes and real play action. Just clean it up and he can dismiss all the other things. There were games to be won that Shedeur helped cause the demise, specifically Stanford. I hope these next 8 games are an evolution.

Everyone here knows Shedeur has first round talent and is a possibly No. 1 QB pick. If you think people are questioning his QB talent, it's just stupid.

Don't you think something is not adding up here though? We have the best QB in the CFB, the best WR core in the CFB, we have very talented RB from BIG and SEC. Shouldn't we running up the score at will every single night?

In the Baylor game, we did really good job moving the ball in the first quarter. The TD we scored in the overtime was also a great drive. We showed what we are capable of in some drives, it's just too inconsistent to make our offense a reliable weapon. What happened to the offense in the 2/3/4th quarter? Who is responsible for that?

"oh the OL sucks" is a very convenient answer. Is it THE reason, or is it just one of the reasons?

Shedeur reminds me so much of Jay Cutler
Arm talent, confidence, arrogance, but we all know that Jay never really won (74-79)
If he loves Tom Brady, then that is the level of team QB details that are missing thus far

I think its time for Will Sheppard to show up or lose playing time to the Miller's (Omarion and Drelon). Maybe he's blocking great (can't say) or just isn't getting the looks to put up stats but I don't 'feel' like he's putting up the way he did in practice earlier in the year.

I get the feeling that some of you CU "fans" have more hate for Shedeur than love for the Buffs. Saltines.
I love Shedeur. It doesn't mean I can't question some of his decisions.

You know what, I also love to be bowl eligible. As a fan, is it so much to ask when you have this level of talents in your team?

Meh - coaching matters. Cutler went from Shanahan to QB hell Chicago. Can't prove it, but I bet Cutler would have continued to have productive seasons with Shanahan whether in Denver or DC.
