CU vs WSU 11/19

Feels like an odd choice. I doubt the scumdevils win Thursday which means 4 straight losses heading into a primetime, national TV game.

6 day notice is tough for fans, and local businesses.

my prior life, I managed a restaurant, most of those years in Blacksburg, VA where Hokie home games were our busiest days of the year and the three hours after a big game would be our biggest hours of the year. Scheduling employees on an hourly basis with that lead time is tough.

screw, just being a fan and trying to plan your weekend difficult enough on 6 days notice.

I know, "but, TV money!"

1. that message would likely apply to the CU/UU game as well, not just 11/19 games, right?
2. since when did a school's preference for kickoff times become a factor!?!?!?! I honestly thought that the schools had no input on start times, that it was all the TV networks.
3. for that matter, when did CU start becoming opposed to November night games (we've had them for at least the three years that I've been following the Buffs)? is this speculation or did the AD make a statement suggesting this?

2. This year, after almost all schools raised an uproar over awful time slots last year.
3. See #2.

Im confused:

So what slot is the #1 game November 19? Is that the Arizona State Washington game?
Are those times in Wilner's tweet PST? So, if so, that means kickoff will likely be 1:30 MST or 8:30 MST?
My guess is the Oregon Utah game is our competition for the #2 spot? Or maybe USC v. UCLA?

We've only hosted November home night games 3 times since 2011, all three were against USC, and two of those were Friday night games.

I sure wish the UU game was the Friday after Thanksgiving!

This is a leaguewide problem. One, get another tv partner. Maybe its going to CBS and trying to get on CBS Sports Network in the mid afternoon, or maybe its creating a new deal with Turner. Scott is going to have to get creative, and using some online platform that youd have to pay another monthly fee for won't cut it. Second, work provisions into your contracts with ESPN and FOX that say a team can only play at 7pm or later in their time zone on Saturdays a certain number of times (say three or less), and maybe you get more access to mid afternoon TV windows in return. You're going to have somebody like Cal throw a fit about it this year-their game with Wazzu is their 8th night kick.

I just tweeted Howell, and he said CU has never told the league anything about not wanting to play home games at night in November.

I don't know all the reasons for a 6-day selection, but is it possible that this is because ESPN wants to see if the Buffs and WSU win so the 11/19 game can be on College GameDay? Maybe a good sign?

Fowler and Herbstreit have to call a game, and I bet it's down to us or OU-WVU. LSU-Florida got banished to the SECN, per fbschedules.com.

I don't think it has anything to do with GameDay, but I'd definitely think it's a good sign that we're very much in play for one of the prime time slots on either ESPN/ABC or FS1.
