Let's think this over. If it is a NFL guy then he will be announced by Tuesday. If it is a college guy it will be after the fax machines have been shut down and be no later than the recruiting luncheon. If it's beyond Friday by noon then it's time to worry. Have waited 2 months. What is another week?

Heard from what I'd consider a reliable source. Would I bet my house on its validity? No. Would I lay down a few hundy? Yep. Plus it seems to fit with the lack of info. If there had been multiple unnaccepted offers, doesnt it make sense we would have heard about them? nothing but crickets for weeks.

I Dont know how long it would take. Supposedly the offer will be entertained after today. My guess it may take longer than two days, maybe he's considering multiple offers. I think it could take until the end of week.

Thats risk with an NFL guy like Seto or Norton is that their current team is in transition with Quinn leaving. Will Quinn poach one of those guys for Atlanta? Will Carroll circle the wagons and promote our target as replacement DC for Quinn? For Carroll their is risk in promoting someone to DC thats never held the title much there is risk calling a passing play on the goal line.

If we come away from this with Seto as our DC my hand will need to be surgically removed from my pud.

Kris Richard (DB coach) is reportedly the next in line for Seattle DC and there was speculation that Norton Jr. could be going with Quinn but that was all speculation. I think the most Seto can expect from Seattle is to take Richard's position as DB coach, but who knows?

Hat tip to a Rivals poster for this article: http://www.thegospelcoalition.org/a...ant-coach-jesus-is-better-than-the-super-bowl

Seto definitely has similar Christian values to HCMM and also seems to prefer the college game to the pro. He would prefer to be at USC, but maybe since we are in the same conference and can offer him a chance to return to being a DC, which in the article also sounds like his preference, maybe we do have a shot. Who knows?

Yep. There was an article that TDbuff (I think) posted from a while back that talks about his desire to be a big influence and "witness" in young men's lives. Couple that with his shared faith with HCMM and it's very encouraging.

We should know around Wednesday whether or not we are after a NFL guy or waiting on a college guy.

Uhh I hope so. This is getting ridiculous. I can see it now:

MM-"Hey coach, go meet your players. They're on the field ready for practice."

Well at this point there are only 2 scenarios that make any logical sense.

1) We were waiting for a coach from an NFL team. Season over, time to hire.
2) We still are waiting on a Pac-12 assistant coach who is locked down until after NSD

We should know which option we are going with very soon.

The SLTrib is reporting that Pease is again being pulled from retirement, last coached in 2011, and is a 1964 Liberty Bowl Champion. That puts him around 70.

I think its 1. If that guy says no then we pick up again where we left off.

Its hard to imagine someone with an offer in hand would still be out recruiting for another program knowing he was leaving. Especially when the program he was going to was in such dire straits he'd probably want to flip some of those recruits. And thats where the cat would get out of the bag. Some HS kid would tweet what just happened....

Well, we might be the last coachless team left standing. But in my mind we dont look quite so desperate with that hire. Since I lived thru the last 10 years as a CU fan Id guess that, If I were Yoot fan, Id being a bit constipated over this move.... At first Id tell myself everything is ok but inside Id be crying a little. HCTW seems to be running out of rope.

Ya I agree. I don't think Option 2 happens anywhere.

Not disparaging anyone's religion, but I doubt that finding a 'like-minded Christian' is a major factor in the search

Ok if it is an NFL guy, it likely was a coach on the two teams last night. If that is the case is their anyone on the Patriots that makes sense? There is a Parcell's connection with that team.

I honestly don't see anything that really jumps out other than that.

It would be more about common values and morals, which translate to coaching styles. HCMM is probably not looking for someone to expand his small group or his bible study, but having a guy that understands and shares the same values would probably make working closely together a bit easier. It is just another connection.

This team needs all the Help it can get. :wink2:

I'm with you and Miami on this. Coaches change schools before NSD all the time (see Sitake to Oregon State). Why would you give an in-conference rival an advantage through the end recruiting? I'd be really worried about our program if that turned out to be what's going on.

Edit - Unfortunately, of me, Option 2 is that we still haven't found anyone.

Perhaps. But I can see how it aligns MacIntyre and Seto on core values and makes Seto a little more plausible.

Exactly. Seto is qualified. He knows he can make an impact in a young man's life over a mid 20s life and can get a promotion and be in a little less selfish business in college football. It makes a lot more sense reading about everything and how nothing has been said.

If Seto doesn't get promoted to DC in SEA as believed, CU makes a ton of sense.

We shall see but for now it feels like our dead horse has been beat enough over these past few weeks.
