Folsom Field Size

Folsom is a gem.

However, folsom is tiny in comparison to other major programs. Sure that's part of it's charm, but would you be in favor of expanding the stadium to be more in line with other Big XII schools?

Most BIG XII campus stadiums house between 50-80,000. Big X and SEC hold around 100,000.

I know campus is tight, but is there a way they could expand Folsom to hold 50k?

West of the Mississippi…really west of Nebraska/Texas…you’re not going to find very many big stadiums…and the ones you do find are basically always half capacity or worse (UCLA, USC)

The culture isn’t there for massive stadiums in the west.

The size of Folsom is about where it should be at the moment. The stadium might even have been too big during the Hawkins and Dorrell days.

The program does have the Broncos stadium available for a really big early season game as well, if needed. But overall, isn’t in-person attendance at college games is trending downward?

They are going to redo the West side in the next couple of years. It’s really the only and last opportunity to add seating and increase capacity, which I think we will see them do even if it’s only adding 10k seats.

204 & 203 should be brought to the height of 214-220, additional 200 level should be added across the entire west side at that height, and the NW corner should be enclosed. That's in addition to turning Balch, Suites and Press Box into a modern area with more/better premium seats and amenities.

Folsom needs to axe the effing bleachers and put in stadium seating! Doing so will reduce seating capacity by around 10%.

Make that loss up by adding another tier to the south end zone, gutting Balch and the whole press box, club seating structure along the west side and reconfiguring all that including more seating.

What's next? Get rid of the uninal troughs?

Average capacity in the Big XII is 54,769. Not a single stadium in the Big XII seats 65,000, much less the 80,000 you claim. What the hell are you smoking?

Does UCLA really count though?

I know it would be absurdly expensive, and there's not really a good place for it in Westwood, but I've always thought UCLA should have figured out a way to have an on-campus stadium. The Rose Bowl is an hour away from the campus. That's no way to run a program that you hope will attract and retain long term alumni engagement.

One time I started a fight with another group for absolutely no reason in the middle of 9th street walking back from pearl at about 2am during a blizzard.

One of my much larger buddies came to break it up and got sucker punched.

He was a student worker in the chem lab on campus and got fired for showing up the next morning with a nasty black eye.
This ain’t the alcohol and threesome thread.

Hey I pretty much agree with you, although I didn’t mind the CSU game being played in Denver. But in general I think all games (including CSU) should be played on campus, andFolsom is the right size for CU’s program as it stands. I’d rather get rid of the bench seating at Folsom and install modern chair back seating than add to Folsom’s seating capacity.

I’m just saying that if on the odd occasion that stadium capacity is an issue, CU has the option of playing in Denver. But I don’t really see that happening unless CU schedules someone like ND in the future.

This, plus stadium seating in the entire lower bowl, and move the visitor section to the second level.
