Folsom Improvement Priorities Announced

I love being at a live game so much that the amenities don't really matter to me. They could play the game in an abandoned rock quarry with no sound system or scoreboards and I'd be there over watching it on tv in the ultimate man cave. But there are maybe only 5,000 people like me, so I get that we need to do all this stuff to fill a stadium and I strongly support all those efforts. I enjoy it even more the fuller the stadium gets with fans and I want to see it with over 50,000 screaming fans.

I really don't understand the people who love the comfort of their own living rooms so much. It would be like someone telling me they'd rather watch a concert on AXS or a Broadway performance on PBS than be there in the crowd. I'm not disparaging that, I just can't relate to it.
You haven't seen my living room...

I dont think it's the quality of TV over live action and is more so the general inconvenience of going to the game.

Long drive, find parking, walk long distances etc etc. And it takes up pretty much the entire day to go
You forgot penitentiary style body cavity searches....

I'm sure RG will once the fundraising allows for the administration to speak more on the details. The Champions Center and IPF are incredible. RG is the man, he won't half ass it.
Have you sat in the bleachers? If anything half asses it, it is the bleachers.

I can believe this, but my impatient self just wants the details now! But it's nice to know they're doing their due diligence to upgrade the stadium, I'll be very excited to see what they have in store.

I do get that. We all have days when we're not up for it for whatever reason but still feel like watching the game. But that's different than thinking that the home tv experience is better, which is what I can't relate to.

Your point is what I'm getting at. It is vital that the entire game day experience at Folsom is made better and constantly improves. Better traffic and parking management is huge. Comfortable seating with great amenities (food, drink & restrooms). Fun events inside and outside the stadium during pre-game. Entertaining half-time. Good wi-fi in the stadium. Great video and sound systems to enhance entertainment during the game. Commitment to the spirit teams (band, cheer, dance, runners, mascots) to add to the unique pageantry of college football. Community tie-ins for each game (homecoming and senior day celebrations, but also themes for other games celebrating vets or first responders or teachers or Hispanic heritage or family days or other campuses in the CU system or whatever, plus mini events like celebrating other CU sports teams, university schools, etc.). You've got to do all that and then you've also got to market the hell out of it.

I’m with you 100%. I don’t have the same interest watching at home, too many distractions. Broncos, Rockies, Buffs...I spend countless thousands every year to watch them in person. Nothing will ever match being at the game, I live for it.

prefer being at Folsom. i get enough of "the TV experience" with CU road games and watching other non-Buff games. though, i do like how "beer-friendly" i can make a TV game....

Thing about TV is that you can’t see the entire field during a play. So you don’t see a wide open receiver waving his arms while the QB throws to a guy in double coverage.

I also listen to Mark and GB on the radio and GB is an awesome analyst I think. He’s generally better than the TV guys.

I also record the games so I can rewatch on TV to see what I missed.

And streakers. TV never shows the streakers.

On the WiFi in stadiums- the key learning from the Super Bowl is that users are uploading content - taking selfies, sending videos. It’s a real “look at me” booster. I mean who doesn’t want to text your college buddies who are watching on TV what the Ralphie Run looks like from section 118?

Sure there will be downloads, too.

A challenge at Folsom is installing the antenna and connecting them to power. Hopefully the transmitters will not be obstructing site lines and installed under the bleacher seating. But with all that concrete, running power and antennas all over is easier said than done.

24TB? Holy ****.

So two to three years for West side improvement. Wondering what the extent of that will be.
Boxes first level, brewery/restaurant second level with priority seating overlooking the field, beer garden rooftop with reserved bartop seats overlooking the field. CU creates a brewing certificate program like other Colorado colleges, tied to the brewery. Even though i love them, no red beer is ever brewed or served onsite.

I hope you’re right man.

There should be social media marketing with PACN where students can post pics from games that gets broadcast and can also win free swag.

Maybe they need an IT consultant. I’m thinking you could parlay it into a bunch of game visits this year. Just sayin.

I presented an idea very similar to this to Heidi Ganahl a couple of years ago.

Electricity and metal bleachers...hmmm...not prepared to assure safety in the NW corner.
