Game thread- Men's bball scheduled to host Northern Colorado (Boulder, Monday 12/14, 7:00 PM MT, Pac 12 Networks)

There are too many people that don't realize that the '90s NBA is dead and that guards - ESPECIALLY IN THE COLLEGE GAME - rule the sport.

Recruit at LEAST one high level PG every year. Period. Get good swingmen and add in a solid big every year who can rebound and play D and you're going to dance a lot more than you don't.

ball handler depth? nah

May just have to agree to disagree here on some pts, but I agree w others in that you expect too much from him. I think we are seeing his 100%, and it seems to be ok. A 7 ft kid w some mobility and a shot is worth the risk, but no HS clip of Dallas showed a high, major DI prospect. He was a bit slow then, and coaching can only get him so far.

Scott may not have been a 7 fter but he wasn't good enough of a post guy for you?

Lovering next four years could be the guy you dream of, but I'm not sure why you want this big post so badly. Inside players are a must, and equivalent skill w height is better than short players. Still, the game is very fluid and perimeter oriented these days.
I'm sure you're right, and more informed than I on the getting down in the weeds on this stuff. I just recall all the hoopla when he signed, and he's been here 3 years without making much of an impression, and I'm not including my own. I "get" the change in need for that old school "big post" center, but there are nine 7-footers in the Pac 12 right now, includin 7'4" Riley Sorn of the Huskies, and when we play them is Battey the best defender match up? I'm asking, not questioning. It's one thing if the opposing team has no big 7' center, but if they do or similar. . don't you need a counter? But I agree, maybe this is all we can expect from Walton, and he is looking better, but other than Tennessee (KSU?) we haven't been tested.

I think there was a lot of hoopla given the intrigue of possibilities and someone with a high ceiling, also from someone who was close Ralston Valley IIRC. I think most who followed things closely knew it was a lottery ticket, albet a lottery ticket that was a good bet to make.

I imagine if he came from California or Texas, there wouldnt have been anywhere near the intrigue.
