Games thread- MEN'S BBall back home to face #21 West Virginia (Sunday, 1/12/25; 1:00 PM MT; ESPN+) and (RV) Cincinnati (Wed., 7:00 PM MT; ESPN+)

This team is making me think about non-renewing season tickets that I’ve had for years. Sad, after such a fun season last year.
I get it and have had season tickets for many years and have not been to a single home game, nor do I plan to.

First time ever I have not attended the majority of the home conference games. If Tad had no NIL, he should have contributed $250,000 - $500,000 to NIL and had a match with boosters/fans. Many coaches across the country have done so.

But the thing is, Tad has some NIL to work with. He just chose not to. This is what I can’t forgive right now. This season is going to set us back 5-10 years.

I have heard the same thing. What I don't know is how many $$$, and how could he possibly not use the NIL $$$ available to him?

Holy ****, between this, the horror of the second losing season ever under Boyle, the Prime stuff with football going back to the stone age, and the politics, where the USA might end. There is a lot of dramatic whining on this site right now.

Have you all contracted your posting out to my teenage daughter?

I knew it was a bad roster. I knew the program, school, et al were not ready for this league. I knew injuries, illness, etc were hitting the program the last month or so. But, ****, man, this is pretty bad.

The opening 4-8 minutes of every game, we just chuck the ball to god knows where while the guys just look confusedly at each other. Later, we're trying to hit back cutters not ready for the ball through three defenders, and no one on the court seems to care. We've got guys who simply don't know who they're guarding or when we're switching. There is zero chemistry across multiple roster combinations. The Monstars stole any shred of talent from Jak.

When I isolate and focus on individual possessions, removing the result (i.e missed shot vs made shot), the intricate ballet on the court is unrecognizable to me. For a program that has long relied on being greater than the sum of its parts, this bunch is the polar opposite.

A complete failure from top to bottom. Every decision that led to this season -- administrative, recruiting, coaching -- deserves a trip to the metaphorical pillory.

I said on BS yesterday that this is directionless garbage, and I mean it.

Disappointing.

This is well put. It’s a weird amalgamation of 2nd and 3rd option mid-major level players mashed together with some players who would likely be really blossoming in another program. As I stated above, we’ll probably lose 3-4 transfers in the offseason and be done as a basketball program for a decade.
And yes, if Tad refuses to adjust, he needs to be thanked and sent on his way.

Or, as I put it back in August of '23, "[...] and what we enjoyed over the last decade-plus will be resigned to a forgotten footnote while everyone panics over who the next football coach will be -- as it ever was."

*sigh*

We were spoiled. Hard to lose KJ, TDS,Cody, Hadley, Eddie, LOB (how are the last 3 performing?) and replace with untested underclassmen, and lower division players (DWs dont come along often). And Jak has lost his confidence apparently. Some prople on this dite seem to have indide ingo on NIL money and other issues. Nonetheless in spite of all that and how dysfunctional they often look, the last 3 games were winnable. And what happens if 94% Hammond makes his FTs and Jak make his 2 or 3 late in the last game. I dont know if Malone would have helped (since likely fewer minutes for Dak who was super and Rancik who looked promising), but a healthy RJ might have.
The OSU game will be a big indicator of how bad we are. It will be a lost season, I just hope they can make improvements, and don't lose any promising players.
