Men's basketball (6-2, 1-1 in conference play) begins a 5 game homestand that ends non-conference play with 2 games coming up, starting with a tough game Saturday at noon against the #13 Tennessee Volunteers (5-1, 0-0), followed up with a Wednesday evening tilt against the Eastern Washington Eagles (3-4, 0-1).

Obviously very early in the season, but for what it's worth, the Massey ratings currently have CU at #62, while the Volunteers are at #20 and Eagles are #165.

Saturday's CU game is scheduled to be on FS1, while Wednesday's is on the Pac 12 Networks. (More info and links near the bottom of this post.)

Live video:
Vs. Tennessee
- Game is scheduled to be on FS1. For those with a proper subscription, it should also be available to stream through a link at https://www.foxsports.com/live. Assume it may also be linkable through Fox's page for the game (https://www.foxsports.com/college-basketball/boxscore?id=234229), which also has more info (season stats for both teams, odds, etc.).
Vs. Eastern Washington - Game is scheduled to be shown live on the Pac 12 Mountain and National channels. For those whose Cable/ Satellite/ Cord Cutting subscription includes access to any Pac 12 channel, assume it can also be streamed through a link at https://pac-12.com/mens-basketball/event/2021/12/08/eastern-washington-colorado.

I think more than anything the crowd is going to dictate this game. If they show up on time and fired up from the tip, we have a really good shot at wining this game. Unfortunately, a noon tip is likely to leave the bluehairs slow rollin' and silent and the CUnit hasn't affected a game in years.

Were you at the Montana State (Tuesday night) or New Mexico games to start the season? Student section was big and loud. Next two home games were Maine on a Monday and the third game in 6 days and Stanford on the Sunday after Thanksgiving when many students weren’t on campus or just got back. Your criticism is off base. I would agree they aren’t as good as they were in their prime a few years ago, but they are willing to show up and have proved that this year.

I've been at every home game. They are mediocre at best. Not their fault entirely. They've been completely ignored by the AD for a few years now.

They were pretty solid at the New Mexico game, better than I've seen from the student section in the last 4-5 years.

Real BS.
Talking out your butt: why would a noon start effect your "blue-hairs"?

I'm on the computer with KOA in the background. Heard Tad talking about a FB who had joined the team. Anyone know who?

Game time is imminent.

Preview with more on Tennessee - https://cubuffs.com/news/2021/12/3/mens-basketball-buffaloes-host-no-13-15-tennessee-saturday.aspx

"
ABOUT THE BUFFALOES: Colorado is 6-2 overall and 1-1 in the Pac-12 Conference, coming off a 73-61 setback at No. 5/5 ranked UCLA on Dec. 1. The Buffaloes opened the Pac-12 schedule with an 80-76 win over Stanford on Nov. 28 - the earliest conference game in the nation this season.
...

ABOUT THE VOLS: Tennessee is 5-1 overall, ranked No. 13 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll and No. 15 in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll. The Volunteers, winners of the last three, will play their first true road game of the season against Colorado. Tennessee has played a pair of neutral site games, including a convincing 89-72 win over then-No. 18 ranked North Carolina on Nov. 21, in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off in Uncasville, Conn.

Tennessee's offense is putting up 82.0 points per game while shooting 47.3 percent from the field. The Volunteers lead the SEC and rank fourth in the nation in assists at 20.2 per game. The Tennessee defense has held its opponents to 63.3 points on 40 percent shooting. The Volunteers average 10.5 steals per game.

Santiago Vescovi leads Tennessee at 15.5 points per game and has a team-best 18 3-point field goals. Kennedy Chandler leads Tennessee in assists at 5.2 per game while averaging 15.3 points on 49 percent shooting. Olivier Nkamhoua tops the Vols in rebounding at 6.8 per game while pitching in 10.2 points per contest.

SERIES RECORDS: This will be the fourth meeting between Colorado and Tennessee. The Volunteers have won all three previous meetings including a 56-47 decision in Knoxville on Dec. 8, 2020. The Volunteers swept a home-and-home in 1980 & Ô81.

Colorado is 70-117 against current SEC schools, which looks odd, but a 55-96 all-time record vs. Missouri factors into that. Remove the Tigers, and Texas A&M (series tied 9-9), the Buffaloes are 6-12 against the rest of the SEC.

Listening to this crew that's broadcasting the game, I just realized that I like PACN for basketball coverage. Color guy started the game by being surprised that CU came out playing man-to-man defense. Do some damn research. It's your flipping job.

I noticed that too. lol

We're getting overwhelmed by this Tennessee defense. Credit to them, but we've been sloppy.

Jabari has to be on the floor to equalize the athleticism. Tennessee’s screens are really well timed and set really well. Barnes can flat out coach

Great hustle from Simpson. And leadership from Battey mussing Lovering's hair after the freshman's nice play.
