I’ve hardly paid attention this year, as the losses mounted especially. Don’t have an ESPN+ account either. But I always check the scores and it seems like as bad as it’s been, we usually don’t get completely embarrassed. We hang around even with the Houstons and Iowa States. It’s good to see that competitiveness finally pay off. This is the least talented team Tad has had, but they don’t quit. If we could ever figure out how to cut down on turnovers …

This team would have been around .500 most years in the PAC while severe there

Buffs Hang on in Thriller Over Baylor

By: Tanner Kay, Athletic Communication Associate
BOULDER –
A stout defensive performance from Colorado was enough to shut down Baylor in a thrilling contest, with the Buffaloes taking down the Bears by a score of 76-74 Saturday afternoon in the CU Events Center.

Colorado improves to 11-16 overall and 2-14 in Big 12 play. Baylor falls to 16-11 overall and 8-8 in conference play.

"We made that a little bit harder than we needed to down the stretch," head coach Tad Boyle said. "There's no doubt about that. We made it interesting, but it shouldn't have been. So we've got to learn from that. But I was proud of our guys' fight and competitiveness."

Andrej Jakimovski led the Buffs with a season-high 17-points on five 3-point shots. Jakimovski had a game-high seven rebounds and five assists for the Buffs, and accounted for five of the nine 3-pointers by Colorado in this one.

"Andrej deserves a lot of credit," Boyle stated. "To have 17 points and seven rebounds and five assists and zero turnovers, plus he made some threes that were big. That's what seniors do down the stretch of their senior year, and you need your seniors to play well."

RJ Smith and Sebastian Rancik, combined for 23 points including three 3-pointers. Rancik also chipped in six rebounds in the contest.

Norchad Omier led the Bears with 18 points on 7 for 11 shooting along with 13 rebounds.

The Buffs held Baylor to just a 36% (25-69) shooting percentage overall from the floor, the second-lowest shooting percentage from an opposing team in Big 12 play for Colorado this season.

A 12-2 run by the Buffaloes with six minutes left in the second half was the deciding factor in this one. Colorado would cling onto that lead the rest of the way to close out Baylor in the final minutes.

UP NEXT: The Buffs are back in action Monday night at the CU Events Center, where they will take on the Kansas Jayhawks at 9 p.m. MT.

Jak needs to stop shooting.
Player of the game.
Last week Tad said that when he gets his feet set, he is one on the best pure shooters in the league.

Was that a behind the back pass from Rancik, that was a TO? Unreal

(Note - Per a social media post from yesterday, this is a "wear black" game for those interested and attending live.)

THE SERIES: This will be the 166th meeting between Colorado and Kansas, the most played series in program history. The series dates back to January 1931 and was played annually from 1947 through 2011 when the teams were together in the Big Seven/Big Eight/Big 12 Conferences. It's the first meeting in Boulder since Colorado's memorable 75-72 win over Kansas on Dec. 7, 2013, decided on a 30-foot shot at the buzzer by Askia Booker. Kansas holds a 125-40 all-time lead in the series including a 40-27 advantage in Boulder.

Starts at 11 EST. That sux.

Buffs +6.5 against a team that has been very good at times this year, but not so good on the road ASP. Lost their last 4 road games.

This would make up for a lot of bad times the players have gone thru.

Go Buffs!

Doing a black out when we're playing someone whose fans will pack the arena is definitely a choice.
Honest estimate, butts-in-seats, 65-35, KU? Kind of depends on student response, tho.

I also expect a sizeable number of empties for a "sell out", based on responses from people I know on their personal attendance tonight.

You're probably right. I expect the late tip to keep more Buff fans away than KU fans. If we go down early, it's going to be intolerable.

Honestly, I'll be happy if it's only 65% Beakers.

I'm not making it. This B12 schedule is pretty brutal for me.
The B12 schedule sucks. This is by far the least amount of games I've been able to go to this year. Luckily I've had Buff fans in my seats every game except for one, but it's depressing as hell. If this keeps up I don't know if I'll keep my season tickets.
