575 yards of offense, 218 rushing yards averaging nearly 6 yards/carry, Montez stayed in the pocket for the most part and had a career day passing the ball.

OL was better but still needs a lot of improvement.

Secondary just didn't show up and knew it was just one of those days when Oliver got beat and tripped on the first score.

As Mac said, they gave up 2-3 big passes on defense and then had two turnovers on offense, in the red zone that stopped TDs. They were 4-5 plays away from the final score being 55-7, but unfortunately for them, all the plays count, so they had to settle for winning by 20 points instead of 48.
Those 3-4 plays literally swung the score 20-30 points. But as you noted every play counts. Let's hope the Buffs have better luck next week!

Fresno Sucks however Washington has put up 27 and it's not even out of the 1st qtr. I'd give CU a C-. Play like they did today against the Huskies and Buffs lose 52-20

C- but only because they won. Way too many stupid penalties on the D. Lots of holding calls on the O and generally for every good series CU had they look flat and completely uninterested during other possessions.

This was a strange game. Our RB had a career high in rushing yards, our QB had career highs in both passing yards and TDs, our top 4 WRs all had TD receptions, the OL only gave up one sack, played well enough in the run game to average close to 6 yards per carry and they won by 3 TDs. All that and yet, it seems the general consensus among the fans is that they deserved a "Failing" grade, had it not been for the win alone.

To me it feels like maybe our expectations have rose so we don't accept poor play anymore. But, it also feels (in the 2 games I've seen) we seem disinterested. We seem like we're just going through the motions at times, no emotion whatsoever. Poor decisions, poor coaching, poor play calling, DB's out of position, poor blocking.

I think we're at the point that we're too talented to lose games anymore against worse competition. But we're also not talented enough to beat the top 6-7 teams in the PAC if we don't show up and play an exceptional game. We just haven't seen this team play a complete game from start to finish. I don't know if that's coaching, attitude, over-confident or what. This team is just so different than last year, that team was so much fun to watch. I really hope this week they take it seriously and look like they're having some fun playing football.

C-
And the CU media is: 'Big win over UNC' and 'you can always play better, but the team's looking pretty good', while Mac loses his cool and snaps that his captain, 'doesn't know what he's talking about'. Mac is a bit nervous and The Emperors New Clothes approach usually doesn't work

The OL was awful. If they cannot dictate the LOS to a DII opponent there is a fair chance they will have trouble in the P12.

Giving up 21 at home to UNC does not bode well for the D.

I really hope we have seen the last of Adkins.

The OL was awful? 5.8 yards per carry and one sack given up is awful? 218 yards rushing is awful?

After thinking about it for a day or so, I went with a C-. Still a lot to improve on, but they are taking small steps at this point.

Not looking at the stas. Off watching the game. We struggled, OL was not dominating, DB's struggled to cover, starters should have been done one series after halftime.
I am scared we won't be able to cover a kick off when someone does return one, we have had no practice there.
Lindsay is going to need help later in the season, I see no help for him.
Montez is just what we expected, inconsistent and learning, but the talent is there.
DL is learning and will improve to bad we have uw this week.

College of Idaho racked up 215 yards rushing, 5.2 a carry against UNC two weeks ago. So I guess matching the mighty COI run game against powerhouse University of Northern Colorado is quite an achievement. I stand corrected.
Still doesn't mean the OL was awful. Averaging 6 yards/carry as a RB is really good no matter who you're playing.

UNC won 42-14.

Shut your fool mouth. If we didn't average at least 15 ypc, go for 300 yards rushing with 4 rushing TDs to go along with 500 yards passing and another 6 TDs, it was mission fail.

Yep, that's it. No hyperbole in this post whatsoever.

Box score doesn't match what I saw live.

We would've been feeling very different if UNC didn't snap a ball to their 5 yard line and if they didn't drop a wide open TD.

And what a melt down from Laguda's targeting (on a dropped 3rd down pass) to UNC's long touchdown to an offsides on a missed 4th down conversion to Adkins' fumble. Just a terrible stretch.

Nice to still win by 20 and dominate the box score. We must be making progress.

My biggest gripe is the lack of pressure on their quarterback. But it looked like, from the stands, that we went with a very basic pass rush. I can't remember us bringing any LB's or DB's. Is that correct or did I miss something?

Very rarely did they bring more than 4 guys to pressure. Pretty much all the same schemes on D since the first game from what I have seen.

Incomplete.

I won't have a great read on this team until after conference play starts. My hope is that Mac doesn't really care about style points and has just left it up to the guys to "out-athlete" the lower competition. This combined with an unfortunate habit of playing down to our competition and inexperience at some critical spots has resulted in comfortable, yet not dominating performances through three games.
Again, that is my hope. My fear is that this team isn't as hungry as last years and there is a vacuum in the leadership role now that Sefo is gone. Also that our losses in the front 7 and secondary may becomes more apparent as the opponents' talent level gets ramped up.

Who did they beat? It's okay, saturday will say much about this team.

Will it say a lot about the team? At the beginning of the season, most people (you and I included) predicted that Washington would be on a different level than the Buffs. So if the Buffs lose on Saturday, is that really any different from what you thought? I think there are some other games in the meat of the conference schedule that will actually show if this is still the 7-9 win team most people predicted, or a team that is going to struggle to get bowl eligible.
