Guess the Attendance: Rocky Mountain Showdown

If the game's gonna be at Mile High, you might as well grab a beer at Little Machine Brewery beforehand. It's one of the better kept secrets in Denver.

As of Tuesday afternoon, CU and CSU had sold more than 64,000 tickets between them for Friday's game.
CU reported it has sold 33,656 tickets (9,141 of those to students), while CSU had sold 30,472 (8,001 to students). Both teams are well ahead of their sales pace of a year ago.
In addition to tickets sold by the teams, the Broncos have a portion of tickets to sell, as well.
CSU on pace to sell out with nearly 1000 sold since yesterday. Not sure what it takes to sell out CU's allotment. But the student tix are likely to sell out at least.

Right after the tweet you posted, Howell says this:

Ticket sales ahead of last year, but I wonder if CU's side sells out. Seems unlikely with 1K tickets to go for the students.

Today and Thursday have typically been the largest selling days of the week leading up to the RMS. My guess is we get really close.

Went back and looked at the threads from the last two years.

With 24 hours left in 2015, CU had sold 31,439 total tickets (7,438 students). 66,253 attendance
With 24 hours left in 2016, CU had sold 33,851 total tickets (8,776 students). 69,850 attendance

We did not document how much sold with ~48 hours last year.
With ~48 hours left in 2016, CU had sold 31,796 (more than 7,146 students, exact number unknown)

So, taking the data points we have (extremely limited sample size!) CU typically has sold ~6.5% of tickets over the next day or so, which would put CU at ~37,270 with 24 hours to go, which would leave about 800ish tickets to sell in the last 24 hours.

The total turnout is typically ~2.06X what CU has sold with 24 hours to go, so that would be a sellout- ~76,500.

Any way you slice it, this should be the best attended RMS in the past 10-11 years.

CSU has sold their full allotment
Fantastic! More tears!

I might have been a bit optimistic with the CU sales. Students are going to be real close. Normal ticket sales have really slowed down, probably because the only seats that are left are absolute crap and the prices are steep for that level.
