Hate-watching: Week 10

Webb had one year to play. At CU he would have been behind Sefo and we would be critical that MM should or should not start the 4 year senior over him. Toxic. He had a clearer path to starting at Cal and less controversy. It worked out best for everyone.

A lot of silly judgements about Webb in here. He cares about winning pretty clearly, he's a great leader over there and runs their offense well, reminds me a lot of Sefo in his attitude towards the game. He had already had a positive effect on the players here before he flipped, no reason to think he destroys the locker room. He was never coming here once another idea got into his head. He pulled a dick move by riding it along for months and then never apologizing. We'd be better with Webb like we'd be better with Patrick Mahomes or Luke Falk, unfortunately none of them were coming here. Happy with Sefo because he's been our guy, and that's how it was always going to be.

If Sefo had been unable to return for this season due to injury (or had limited effectiveness) this year could have looked a lot different than it has played out so far. His health and Webb leaving certainly could have been related, but when CU sought his transfer there was nothing public to say that Sefo was going to be able to be 'our guy' this season.

It doesn't matter what he was at the time, he was going to be healthy at the start of the season even if we didn't know it yet.

I think we're all missing the biggest thing on Webb and CU - we don't know if he would have been the starter here. That's why he went to Cal, no?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This right here. I didn't follow the whole Webb saga as much as many others here, but from what I heard and read it seemed like he was coming here until it became clear that Sefo was healed and was ready to compete for the position at 100%. I don't blame the young man for doing what was best for him and not wanting to be embroiled in a QB battle and controversy. He went where he was certain to be the starter ... that would not necessarily have been the case here.
