1) tried to replicate Shedeur wtih Salter. He's not Shedeur. Not even close.
2) Juju isn't ready. He's 17...and he's short. Worried he can't see over the O line. Maybe get some platform cleats for him
3) Staub is ready. He's the only one who has been around the program for more than a few months and he's been learning. Ready to play.
Staub and Juju are the same height. Like EXACTLY.

I do think the Delaware corner sitting on the hitch on Staub's first TD pass speaks volumes about what they thought about our offense in pre-game planning - and it isn't great for us with Salter.
There needs to be a deliberate plan with playing Salter moving forward, after evaluating him through two weeks. Read Option and RPO game should be the focus. I am not overly confident they will do that, but I just don't think a couple drives vs Delaware has just solidified Staub as QB1 for the rest of the year, nor should it.

I just looked it up. they're both 6'1". On TV he looked tiny.
And weight: staub is 10 lbs heavier than Juju.
I loved the dimes tossed by Staub. But my absolute favorite play was his decision to scramble when the play broke down, know where the down marker was, and got it. Neither of the other two really do that naturally. (I know that’s Salter’s strength, but he’s not doing it)

The dream scenario is Staub starts with a healthy dose of Slater in the appropriate situations. This offense could be deadly with that combo but that requires a competent OC.

yes I agree - Slater deserves run

Houston beat Stephen F Austin (0-2) in week one; a program that was 7-5 in the FCS last year and Rice (1-1) in week two; a program that was 4-8 in AAC last year.

CU lost to a GT team that will compete for the ACC Championship by 7 and covered a 23.5 point spread against a Delaware team that has won 8, 9 an 9 games the past three years in FCS.
What’s your point? That Colorado isn’t getting love based on your subjective argument?

Who gives a ****. Everything comes down to Colorado needs to win this game.

I didn't make an argument and nothing I said was subjective, actually. I was just pointing out the difference in competition that the two teams have faced through two weeks, since Houston's comfortable 2-0 record and CU's inconsistent 1-1 record seems to be playing a large role in the perception of this matchup.

Again, I'll say how much I hate this. Just nut up and pick a direction. Choose a QB. Pick a personality/philosophy. Rally the team behind it. Put it in place and stop messing around. Christ.
THiS.

we need an identity. and it needs to carry over from year to year. sure, you adjust and tweak based upon what your players do well, but you have to have a system in college ball. the upperclassman help teach and enforce the system. and so forth.

bama analysts and assistants came and went, but the offense was the offense.

Prime asked about Ryan changing the play on the go routes because that is what a good QB does.

Am I missing anything related to how Shurmur builds or runs his offenses with essentially him always calling the wrong play and then if the QB audibles or changes plays, that is brilliant, but your dumbass OC gets it wrong 75% of the time. Prime is a loyal guy and that is honorable, but seriously, wake up and see how bad he is

My memory isn't crystal clear, but it seems like the defense struggled through the 1st few games last year, but started jelling after the offense got more confidence and started producing more.
I'm hoping for something similar. The offense starts producing more under Staub and the defense is inspired to improve their game. I think they have all the tools necessary, but need to believe in themselves more. (and have Livingston learn how to scheme against running quarterbacks
)

Today's players are hard to lead because they are so cocky and independent.
Shedeur and Travis were larger than life figures and the rest of the team followed them and they improved the rest of the year for sure
Who and how can we get this group to tighten up and be led properly
Arden, Drelon, DJ, Mata, and others are trying, but no QB leadership, and none of those guys are just so above the rest, so we gotta see leadership step up fo sho

Fair enough, but the running game was always a big part of it.
Yep, until Saban made the conscious decision to completely change and go with the modern spread offense by bringing in Kiffin and continuing it with Daboll and Sark. Went from Greg McElroy and AJ McCarron type QBs to Hurts, Tua, Mac Jones, Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe.

Point is, the game has evolved and the days of a bunch of programs having really unique identities are gone. Pretty much everyone runs the same kind of offense outside of a handful of programs. "Identity" is mostly just a fancy word for "what is this team good at", and teams that are just kind of mid (like CU) are said to not have an identity.

He better learn how to.scheme against running quarterbacks, tired of them kicking 100% of our ass.
