Its Game Day - Sac. State

Great ball sharing, decent defense, and great rebounding so far. The turnovers are still a concern.

Dom is looking good. Hit a sweet catch and shoot three. Brown looks good. White is the real deal. GK looks good. Yak's outside shot still needs work. We are deadly from downtown.

7-11 from 3 point range with two minutes left in the first half. Definite shift in offensive philosophy with Josh gone and a roster loaded with wings.

Wow! Siewert has a sweet shot. This team is loaded! We will be able to come at teams in waves.

Dat efficiency
Dat depth
Dat Tad

It is going to be really hard for Tad to shorten the bench. As for the new faces Brown looks fantastic on both ends and we haven't even seen Peters yet. Siewert had a unbelievable debut and really fits in with this offense. White was as good as advertised. For the returners Yaz had the best summer by far. Looks so much faster than last year. Gordon is going to have a huge year. XJ looked Rusty and King looks the same.

I still don't know why we miss so many bunnies. The shot selection was a statisticians dream and we should have broken 100 if we didn't miss so many point blank shot.

Sac St. Had 17 offensive rebounds. Not good. Though several were long, wild bounces off the rim because the shots were so bad. But have to shore that up.

Tad said White was only 70% due to a twisted ankle in practice.

Passing, shooting, movement & depth look real good. Worried about defensive rebounding. That's the big thing to clean up for the next one. In all, I really like this team. Tons of firepower and playing team basketball.

Just got home from the game and thought I would share some impressions:

Deleon Brown has some serious quicks and has a good shot. We are going to L-O-V-E having him around. Though we can expect a few freshman like defensive moments.
Lucas Siewart IS Austin Default's doppelganger, except as a freshman Lucas already looks like Austin looked as a junior. When he gets more aggressive inside it will be interesting.
Dom's shot looks really, really good (You all already know that)...but there were times he had a pretty good limp going, and his lateral quickness is still...well like the first two years. Not sure if he is hurt or not but I was concerned when he appeared to be limping.
Namon Wright needs to add some bling to his scooter.
XJ isn't as explosive as he used to be, but he is explosive enough. When he really gets his legs and shot back CU is going to be very tough to beat.
Coach wasn't fibbing when he said the kids hadn't committed to rebounding. The one negative in this game was watching the effort, or lack there of, rebounding. Most surprising is that the guy who is our best at rebounding looked like he just wasn't interested tonight....In fact Gordon was the only guy who had a poor game.
Akyazili is Akyazili...same shot, same hustle.
Josh Fortune played within himself and looked good.
White....flashes of brilliance...but since he already has an entire thread devoted to him, everyone noticed.
The defense looked legit against an inferior opponent.

We didn't shoot enough 3's. Tying the record is Ok. I expect this team to set all CU records in 3 point shooting.

Going to be fun to watch. They can score for sure. They gave up way too many offensive rebounds tonight. That was the only real weakness we saw tonight. The great thing is this team is deep, very deep. So much fun to have bball back and great to see everyone at the DH.

Lucas Siewart IS Austin Default's doppelganger,

and Lucas and Thomas A look like they could be brothers

20 Assists vs. only 10 Turnovers...another good sign.

Akyazili: 6 to 1
White: 4 to 0
...but Collier: 1 to 1 and led the team in scoring.

Dom looks like he's going to be more of a 2-guard than a 1-guard this season.

Not too worried about defensive rebounding yet. Last night was an effort issue that Tad will take care of. A lot of those boards we were in good position grab, just need to finish. Not too mention Sac St. had some big boys down low.

Dom's role has been redefined a bit and I like it. He showed a confidence last night we've really never seen from him before.

Someone already said it, but XJ will need some time to get his game legs back. Still looks good though.
