Jay?I heard from a reliable source that Gruden bought a parcel of land in Colorado a few years back on a tax sale, or a relative did, or something.

Here's the real question--if HCMM decides to bolt to Vandy, who would be the best candidate to replace him? After all, CU would be a late-commer to the coaching carrousel, and there are still schools out there competing for the best new coaches. My (serious, I mean really, I am serious) suggestion would be someone with extensive head coaching experience, someone who can recruit and can recruit in Pac-12 territory, someone who knows football, and who knows Boulder and our University, and someone who has the gift of gab and can talk to the media and schmooze donors. With those qualifications in mind, I (seriously) think that there is one candidate, and one candidate only that would fit the bill and could lead CU to success--Rick Neuheisel.
I know that many buffs fans will hold numerous grudges against him (I did for many years), but we should get over that and realize that he might be exactly what the doctor ordered if CU has to engage in a new coaching search. First, he has had success as a head coach, both here and in Washington. Second, he is available. Third, he wants to get back into coaching in the worst way (as could be discerned by his most recent comments on the PAC-12 Football Podcast), and would jump at the job and would probably not demand any more money than CU was paying HCMM. Although I was initially hesitant to have him as an analyst on the Pac-12 Network due to the aforementioned grudges, I have grown to like him and respect his football acumen. He has a deep knowledge of the teams in the Pac-12, the coaches, the players, the schemes, essentially everything. It would be hard for CU to do much better, and we could do a heck of a lot worse.

Was it you or some other dumbass that made this suggestion when we let Embree go?
They are throwing out names of people they think are good coaches and might see Vandy as a step up maybe? We know vandy is NOT a step up, but the perception in the media is that CU is so down that Vandy could be forseen as a step up (especialy with Mac's ties). I take comfort in that the media must see progress at CU to think the Mac would be a serious candidate.Jeremy Fowler and coachingsearch.com have mentioned Mac, but they're just throwing out names. I'm not too worried right now. I feel Vandy could get a hotter name.
****ing seriously. Buncha needy chicks. This place sucks.
You suck at UBL'sBecause we had 13 pages and then someone posted another comment.
Probably, but how is that a UBL?You suck at UBL's
Probably, but how is that a UBL?
I was channeling my inner Arnold Palmer who was asked how he, of all people, could shoot an 88. He said it was because he lipped out his putt for 87.
I don't want to brag, but yeah. You've definitely lipped out 12.

There is quite a bit of chatter in Vandyland that HCMM is a viable candidate for them. I find it super hard to believe he would leave CU so quickly. He wants to finish the job he started. But you have to wonder if the opportunity to live near his dad who may not have many years left might override his loyalty and ethics about staying at CU. I for one will be happy when Vandy has hired someone not named HCMM.
At this stage of the hiring season we'd have leftovers to choose from. Although I bet Orgeron, if he was still available, would certainly think about it. USC would become red letter day in a hurry in Boulder.
I am not suggesting HCMM would take the Vandy job b/c his dad worked there. I am saying he would have to be tempted because his very ill dad lives very close.Well, guess if Cody gets into coaching other programs can worry about him coveting the CU job.
My father was my mentor and an inspiration in my life. In my mid-forties with kids in school, his geographical location has no bearing on my career decisions.I am not suggesting HCMM would take the Vandy job b/c his dad worked there. His dad was his mentor and seems to be an inspiration for him. He gets emotional when he talks about his dad. HIs dad is an important figure in his life. He would have to be at least a little tempted to consider the Vandy job just for that.
I'd say more than a few at least media types. And if Vandy strikes out on some of their other targets it would not at all be surprising to see them reach out to see if he was interested.HCMM has been mentioned a few times, but there is not "quite a bit of chatter in Vandyland". Majority of chatter surrounds Mason, Morris, Narduzzi, and Hudspeth. Honestly, McElwaine from CSU is mentioned more prominently than MacIntyre.
Everyone is different. And knowing he's in poor health and probably doesn't have many years left, could play a factor here. Bottomline, it's not the most far fetched thing for him to go to Vandy. I doubt he's Vandy's first choice however. It be hard to sell someone who had basically one great year at San Jose St and just went 4-8 (two of those wins coming against FCS schools). My father was my mentor and an inspiration in my life. In my mid-forties with kids in school, his geographical location has no bearing on my career decisions.
So you think there's a 0% chance he goes to Vandy? His name has been mentioned on national websites.16 pages of stupid.

The difference was we couldn't afford Les Miles. I don't think he'll leave for Vandy, but if you want to give me 100:1 odds, I would take them.So was Les Miles to CU. Do you remember how many names were being thrown out there when we were looking for a coach?

I'll take the .0001% chance he goes to Vandy then.Yes. I think there is 0% chance he goes to Vandy.
And that is worth 16 pages of hand wringing? This isn't something I am going to lose sleep over. Anything is possible and this is far fetched at best for the time being.I'll take the .0001% chance he goes to Vandy then.
