Ladies and gentlemen, the Prime effect

Not acknowledging that this from the Prime effect is definitely interesting.

"Really difficult" means applying various factors...some call them numbers...to compare overall enrollment across universities this year, last year, past decade, other similarly situated universities, available high school enrollment numbers and trends locally/nationally, economic trends over time as they correlate to enrollment, etc.

Of course, that's not really her job.... oh right... it very likely is. And of course, as she's the one asserting that this sort of analysis can't be properly done, she is also asserting that she has some expertise in how it can properly be done so as to assert the difficulty in doing so.

OR she's just being lazy.

OR she does not like the idea that athletics can benefit the University as a whole and has never heard of the University of Alabama.

I saw another tweet earlier that said that black applicants were up 50%, which finally shows some movement on CU's diversity initiative they've been paying lip service to forever.
I’m hearing that this incoming frosh class received the highest number of black applicants in the history of the school by a wide margin. Is this true?

But some lady at CU says there is no link to Coach Prime.

Idiot Facepalm GIF

Unfortunately not a high standard to exceed but it is progress in the right direction.

Still looking forward to the day when seeing a Black student on campus doesn't provoke the question about which sport they play.

Sorry but the black population in the us is about 15% And CO is less than that! There are other minorities out there Asian and Hispanics are more. you want diversity look at the whole spectrum of applicant. Blacks are a very small minority especially in CO. You really expect black out of state applicants from let’s say Alabama, Mississippi or Florida to all of a sudden increase their admissions to CU? Your out of you mind.

Why not? Nearly 50% of our students come from out of state.

Hispanic student applications also had a 25% jump.

And of course, *you’re.

The Feds also overhauled FAFSA this year, the CU Admissions office was probably working their asses off this year. Those poor folks work a ton and are not compensated fairly for it.

Office of the Colorado State Demographer statistics, most recent generated for 2010.

Total population of 20 year olds (rough median college age) said in Colorado there were a total of 91,880 White, non-Hispanic and 7174 Black non-Hispanic. This works out to for that age group roughly 1 Black for every 11 White people, the Hispanic number was 35,156 so roughly 3.5 Hispanic students for every 9 White students.

The student population of CU-Boulder is nowhere close to either of those figures. Is it asking too much to have a student population that somewhat reflects the population of the state.

We aren't talking about having the Boulder campus look like Jackson State, simply to represent the population of Colorado and the other states where significant numbers of students come from.

I'm not going to go dig up the numbers for someone like Fred who probably doesn't believe in math anyways but I'm fairly certain that the Black populations, the Hispanic populations of states like California, Texas, Arizona, most Midwestern States, etc. have equal or higher ratios of people of color in the college aged demographic.

How about if we just become the school of choice for the better qualified minority students from Colorado high schools rather than them going to other states because they are such a minority at CU that they feel uncomfortable.

Did you know that 3.7 out of 15.3 people don't normalize their data to make it easier to understand and compare?
