Id guess some current LSU recruits would follow him. Some will stick with LSU unless the hire is very ****ty. The most valuable ones will get flipped to one of their other offers.
 
I actually picture a few on this board composing emails to Rick George linking the article about Les Miles telling boosters he won't be back next year :LOL:
 
Has Miles ever expressed an interest in returning to CU? He didn't take the Michigan job when he had the chance and that seemed like the perfect match.

And can we afford him? I'm thinking boosters might pony up the dough if it's a possibility, but I have no idea.
 
Here is how this will work out - because it's been established that we can't have nice things:

RG goes through some back channels to gauge Miles interest. Miles says that he is interested and would come if the price is right. RG fires MM, thinking he has Miles in his back pocket. Then we fail to come to an agreement on compensation and Miles ends up somewhere else. We hire some NFL tight end coach and fall into another ten year funk.

That is the likely scenario IMO with Miles. With MM it's continuing to struggle and probably not turning this thing around. We are so far from where we need to be in this conference, we need a dramatic move to get us competitive again.

RG is smarter than that.

CU can't have nice things. Miles ends up at Mizzou or S Carolina so he has a chance to screw over LSU .

Even if CU only landed some of LM recruits, with the highly coveted ones going elsewhere, wouldn't that still be a quantum leap? Don't they have the #1 rated class?
 
The sh**ty thing is when Miles doesn't come here, I'm going to resent Mac all next season when he doesn't win 9 games. :D

Totally unfair, I know.

Me too. From what I hear htough he has to seek related employment, there is an offset for any salary obtained, and the payout is over 8 years, but still, there would be a long vacation mixed in there somewhere if I were him.
 
If I were him I'd take a year off and pay off all the best 2017 recruits while unaffiliated with any University and then take the CU job next year after mac is fired and swoop in with my new recruit friends and fill up CU's large recruiting class with blue chippers.

One has to wonder....

In all seriousness, there are a lot of good and a few great jobs open right now. If Miles really does want to work this is the year to make one's self available.

And I agree with the above, his leaking this puts some pressure on LSU and his bosses.

FWIW, I have a friend who gets some pretty good info from a unique relationship with some pretty influential boosters. He just told me that there is a reasonable amount of smoke here. Not saying it will happen. Just saying that it is more than just musings on this message board. There are some real players who would do a lot to get Miles here.
