Lookalike & Game thread - #20/21 (AP/ Coaches)/ #20 (NET rankings) Men's bball on the road vs. #38 (NET) USC (L.A., Saturday, 2/1, 8:30 PM MT, FS1)

Is it the best team of the Tad era?

Starting to look that way to me. It has balance, is able to play through any member of the team having an off night, is deep, and can succeed at a variety of things on bother ends of the floor.

Also looks to have some quality leaders and character guys and a team first attitude.

I am looking forward to the tournament. I think this team has a real chance to advance past the first weekend if they continue to improve like they have.

Too early to say this.

Until another Tad team wins a Pac-12 title and/or advances beyond the 2nd round of the Dance, I will always say 2011-12.

Wow!!! Now that should be Buffaloes Basketball!!! Buffs completely turned around every frustrating point I mentioned 2 days ago. Energy was there, moving fast and attacking on offense, it was a thing of beauty. I saw us run an out of bounds play for a wide open 3, lol. We looked like the experienced team tonight and put it on em on the road. I'm giddy. F USC! Here's hoping our Buffs can consistently play at that level. Parquet did a great job tonight, tough defense, taking care of the ball for the most part. Everyone was looking confident. Buffs wanted to and did run over some Trojans!

KenPom didn't love USC. They were #52 going in with CU at #26.

NET had us at #20 going in, with USC at #39.

Quad 1 win on NET (huge for our resume). We're in great shape.

Road blowout win on KenPom, which should move us up a good bit. I think we'd been as high as #17 there after the WA homestand, so this week probably drops us overall.
With today's losses in the top 25 Buffs shouldn't move back much if any don't you think. Man this was exactly how I saw the LA games going, need ucla to steal some wins, and then curb stomp them in Boulder. Appreciate all of you guys who post all the info in regards to the NET and KenPom ratings for the rest of us.

At the risk of being the turd in the punch bowl... I hope everyone understand that games like tonight are outliers to savor. We played great. USC was off its game. If we're lucky, we'll get a game or two a year when it clicks against a good team like that. Also, I'm drunk now.

It’s time for the haters that said we would lose to USC and we are no better than years past to stand up and admit that we are not like years past teams.
Yes we have had a couple bad nights (osu, UCLA), but in a 30 game schedule you are going to have that. We aren’t that good where we can expect to dominate every single game. Every team in the conference has had off nights.
What I love about this team is how it bounces back from adversity. After every loss, we seem to come back and take our will out on teams with a big win or another good run.
This team will probably have another bad performance or two, but in NO way shape or form is it just like years past teams. This is a team that will be in contention for the conference until the end and will still have a very good seeding in the Big Dance. It’s time for the haters and doubters to appreciate this years squad and realize how good they are!
Rah ra I told you so rant over, commence...
Go Buffs!!!

This didn’t deserve its own thread? Seriously mods? You ****ers are no fun sometimes. Now the people I called out probably won’t see this because they won’t even look at this thread. This wedding is horse****!

Who was the dumbass in the UCLA thread that said CU had no chance whatsoever in the USC game?

Edit: @seattlebuff

Zandi said Buffs would be boatraced. Seattlebuff said all of the usual stuff. And disappeared. Robert Sorrell said, I think ironically in the moment, that he expected CU to beat USC by 18. They were all wrong. Some more than others. I get frustrated too.

These are college kids, on a team that is clearly not a basketball factory. They can beat anyone and lose to anyone, but right now the needle is starting to point toward the former a little bit. And that is fun as hell.

And, on reading this, I do not wish to group Mr. Sorrell in with the others. I was just pointing out that he somehow lowballed the margin of victory.

It might be an unpopular opinion but the 2010-11 team was better. They were really robbed.

Just the second game I’ve gotten to see in person, and WHAT A ******* GAME! Lights out on D, rebounded, and shot lights out, but nothing was tough, good looks and we hit them! Glad to see everyone all over Eli, he played amazing, the early 3 gave him so much confidence.

No complaints! I think we are literally good enough and the rest of the PAC-12 is not that strong, that we will dictate whether we win or lose. Could not have been more confident for this game, because you knew Good Buffs would show up, after the L Thursday. If we play our game, play strong D, rebound, and don’t turn the ball over, we should win every game home or road. If the Good Buffs show up, without question we are the best team in the conference. Just can’t take full halfs off like we did against UCLA.

That team had a lot of bad losses and basically went .500 until the NIT. They didn't defend. Finesse team with talent that was fun to watch when they were clicking, but results matter.
21-13 before the NIT

8-8 in the Big XII before the tourney

Beat KSU 3 times

Yea, they lost a few road games they shouldn’t have at the start of the season under a new coach but that team was poised for a deep tourney run.

I wouldn’t consider either to be our most talented though. That’s clearly 2013-2014 pre Dinwiddie injury.

Huge win! Go buffs!

You're right. I was thinking about the previous season. We got robbed on selection Sunday that year.

That 2013-14 team is the ultimate "what might have been" for me. I can't think about the Tad era without thinking about where we'd be if Dre had come back and Spencer hadn't gotten hurt.

Well, maybe this team is just consistently inconsistent. As long as we finish in the top-4, which we will, I like our chances to win the conference tournament.

I personally attended this game at USC, and it was even more of a blowout than the score indicated. The players were pumped up and focused at the same time. Biggest crowd of the year so far at Galen Center, but visible and audible to all in the arena was a loud and wonderfully obnoxious group of yellow banana-clad Buffs fans perched in the front row of the balcony above the basket closest to the USC bench.

Where’s Zandi? “I’m here for every game!”
My ass.
Glad you thought of me. Guess you missed my earlier post.

I'd love for you to find anything where I ever said I was here for every game - tho I'd be willing to bet I've been to more live this year than you.

Est a dick, asshole

If we can play D like we did against Oregon, esp 1st half, we can win. We need focus and desire. And confidence.

Go Buffs.
My 'prediction' was loaded w/ cliches, but we were confident, focused and really wanted this win. I felt the Buffs were as confident as I've ever seen them. Great job getting them ready by Tad, especially after Thursday

With last night’s effort I believe Parquet leapfrogs Stalzer as the best player named Eli that Tad has ever recruited.

I was at Pauley on Thursday and that same group was there.
