Tad needed a challenge, so he assembled a mediocre group?
I'm no expert, but it seems like he could have gotten better transfers (we had 3 guys drafted) and maybe have kept Luke or Eddie (if possible).

I wasn't home yet and forgot it was on once I got home. Reading the thread just now, I think it's safe to assume that I didn't miss anything.:D

I always said Michigan State.

The biggest surprise to me of the Tad Boyle era is that the program was built on defense and rebounding but, unlike Sparty, we have never gotten close to having a basketball team that looks like football players.
This would be fine with me. It also really drove it home to see UNC stronger than us.

How much of that is recruiting versus S&C tho?

Like Coen Carr, Jaxon Koehler, Zapala all their football typer players were recruited with that body type had nothing to do with their S&C?
I think it's a bit of both, TBH. That said, I've never felt like Tad has ever been a guy who has really bought into the new era of what basketball players have become. Jase Richardson (Fr) standing next to Hammond (Sr) last night was freakin' sad to look at.

Also, Frankie Fricken Fidler was bigger and stronger than our entire roster sans Malone and he's spent his entire career at Omaha.

I was thinking about this on my way to work this morning ... would this roster compete with the top 4 teams of the MWC?

Depends on whether the guards perform on that given day.

I believe we have solid talent at the wing and in the front court. But with so few guys who can create and orchestrate plus with so many new faces, we are worse than our talent because it's difficult for these guys to find their roles and to be connected.

Weren't there 2 players that just signed for the 2025 class that said a large part of why they singed was the S & C program? I did a double take when I read that

I have updated the original post with links to more info on UConn and today's game with them, which is now ~2-1/2 hours away from tipoff.

Cesar Millan the Huskies!

Tad should have retired after last season. How does a coach show-up with this pathetic roster for the program's first year in the most difficult basketball conference in the country?

I just don’t think there’s examples of MSU has strengthened their players at a better rate/way then CU.

I can hear the critique that if our indetity is defense and rebounding we should recruit stronger guys.

But to say our S&C team is ages behind other programs Id disagree with. S&C also includes injury prevention, flexibility, recovery, weight loss in some cases not just bulking even though a lot of basketball players can carry more weight.

I know other people have mentioned this before but basketball players are skinny in general, they run so freaking much and burn so many calories it can be hard to carry weight.

I'm probably naive.
We have CU BB alums who are NBA GMs, coaches and great players - 3 drafted last year. Tad is well-known, liked and respected in the profession. And, we play in the toughest conference.
I hope the team we have is successful, but I'm mystified that Tad didn't bring in a stronger group.

Tad didn't need to bring in a stronger group, he simply needed to bring in one more player. A PG with a solid game from a solid program. I see a ton of stud mid major guards who transferred into random azz programs in the offseason and it says to me this wasn't about money. That's why I'm so damn disappointed in Tad.

I believe those were Tommy Bahama which are very pricey but I've also seen another brand on either the team store or Fanatics that looks very similar and is significantly cheaper
The coaches shirts are different than any I've seen on any website.

MSU coaches had the same shirt, but didn't even bother to put logos on them

Feels like every shot at the rim is getting blocked. Defensively they have some potential.

Hurley and his team sure do complain a lot.
On one hand he's got a point, these refs have it in for him and his team him today. On the other hand, if he hadn't been such a b!tch yesterday this whole thing would be moot.
