Meanwhile, Cal loses 7th straight and will NOT go to a bowl game......

When it is all said and done, I think it was a blessing that Webb chose Cal over Colorado. I think we would all still be excited that our team would be doing so well with Webb at the helm, but it wouldn't feel as good as it does with Sefo. Sefo deserves this more than anyone. He fought week in and week out when we were getting blown out in the PAC12. I'm beyond happy that Sefo recovered and getting all the praise he deserves. Hopefully he can take us to the promise land.

Fun to read! But this shows how quickly you can fall behind in college sports. It happened to colorado and magically 250 million later were all of a sudden winning and get a good recruiting class. Don't underestimate the revenue from fans attending the games either. This is huge to build on what we have.
Deja Vu

Cal might have gone 0-12 without the transfer of Webb. Apparently he is way better than anyone else they have, who were all inexperienced.

Hawaii scored 31 on them in the opener, and maybe they don't win that with the young guy.

Webb and his maturity carried them to 3 other wins:

Texas 50-43
Utah 28-23
Oregon 52-49

I do think they probably win vs UCLA next week. Those guys have packed it up for good after the USC game and they flat out cannot score points.
Cal will win big.

When Cal boards are calling for Sonny to be fired and wishing that they had hired Mac:

what a difference a year makes

It would be interesting to know what made Davis change his mind about coming here.
He came out during spring football and:
-Did he see that Sefo was going to be healthy for fall camp and didn't want to compete for the job?
-Did he not like the offense and the amount of running?
-(My favorite) Did certain guys on the team let him know in no uncertain terms that this was Sefo's team?

I would guess that he saw that Sefo's return was certainly possible, if not probable. And that he was the leader of the team. Even if he outplayed Sefo in competition and won the job, he may not win over his own teammates. Tough spot.

Whatever happened to LiverFlukes? Please don't tell me he was just a band wagon guy!

When the wagon had no wheels.

Sefo was running and jumping around with his teammates at the Spring Game and had already started playing in pickup basketball games. That is why Webb knew he was better off going somewhere else so he could start this year in his last chance to impress NFL scouts. He made the right choice. Glad he went to Cal.

Hate getting ahead of ourselves, but if we ever made the Rose Bowl, I would take great pleasure in knowing Cal hasn't been since 1959 and Arizona has never been.

Webb probably has more skills than Sefo, but he isn't our leader. He'd be nothing but a hired gun, rather than the heart and soul of the Rise.

If he would have come here and Sefo been healthy, we may not be where we are today. It all worked out, with karma. Still, he's a little bitch so I'm glad he won't go bowling. And Sonny will enter 2017 with a QB problem yet again. He sucks, just like TTU sucks and RichRod sucks.
Who the F*** is george king??

I am glad Sefo made not getting DW a non-issue.

Edit: And Steven had a hand in this also.

Piss on Davis Webb and cal for the bs they pulled. Damn happy to be where we are with a home grown player, not a merc.

Something on the Webb saga that needs to be brought up: Coach MacIntyre. A lot of Buffs fans ripped on him for not promising Webb the starting job when he visited him, causing that meeting to not go well and precipitating the flip to Cal. You know what? Kudos to HCMM. Not only for being honest with Webb, but also for his belief and loyalty to Sefo.

Promising starting jobs to players is a sure fire way to lose. Every job should be based on the competition in camp and practice. If you couldn't win the job in a camp competition you probably wouldn't have won many games as a starter.

I think THE ONLY reason we entertained Webb was because of the doubt that Sefo would be able to return. I'd bet that had Sefo been healthy, we would not have pursued Webb. Same probably goes for Webb. At the time he committed, he probably thought the door was wide open and once it became likely Sefo would be back, he saw the writing on the wall.

I remember having to argue with many when Webb flipped that Webb wasn't the difference between 6 and 3 or 4 wins, which is kind of funny given where we are now.
