Webb's skill set doesn't fit with the personality of this team. Sefo has become the personality of this team.
 
Trying to get Webb maybe says that Mac didn't have a clear view of how Montez would play either. I guess if Sefo was needing the extra year to heal we did need more than Montez and Gehrke.

I thought it was a difference in 2 or 3 wins. Crow tastes great!

A lot of Buffs fans ripped on him for not promising Webb the starting job when he visited him, causing that meeting to not go well and precipitating the flip to Cal. You know what? Kudos to HCMM. Not only for being honest with Webb, but also for his belief and loyalty to Sefo.

This was a huge gamble by Mac that must have cost him some sleepless nights. By all accounts, Mac was coaching for his job this year. How much pressure did he feel, and how easy would it have been for him to bow to that pressure and promise Webb that he'd be the starter. It would have been hard to question that choice at the time.
 
Their fans sound so much like us last year and the year before that and the year before that.....
