RG and MT handled it like big time football pros. It looks like it will take some time for a few of the fans to catch up.
There was an appropriate reaction within a good timeframe. Glad it did not drag out all weekend.

Entertaining an interview (if that’s what happened) after his first season as a HC where he had a losing record is unusual. It’s an overreaction to me because this goes along with the territory of big time football with desirable coaches. If we actually start winning, there will be overtures and meetings. It’s job of the AD to continually recruit/retain our best coaches.
What part of “Just so we’re clear, I don’t think anyone is bothered that other schools have interest in coach Tucker” was confusing to you?People have to justify
Hold on tight, you are not going to enjoy the ride when the Buffs start winning if you are already so squeamish about having other programs want your coach.
Different. He said he was here for the long haul and then we thought he might leave after one season. If he turns us around and then leaves after 6 years fineThis thread is astounding. I can’t imagine what y’all will do when we have a winning season and other schools talk to Coach Tucker and his agent.
If we have a winning season next season, more contact will happen. This is part of the deal.Different. He said he was here for the long haul and then we thought he might leave after one season. If he turns us around and then leaves after 6 years fine
Some folks not used to this.If we have a winning season next season, more contact will happen. This is part of the deal.

When we win next season is what I'm sure you meant. People are really going to freak then, really glad twitter wasn't around when Mac was coaching. What a great day Buffs cut down the trees and coach Tucker said he isn't going anywhere. You good after Clemson let us down.If we have a winning season next season, more contact will happen. This is part of the deal.
No college football fan is used to interest in a coach after one season.
Pac 12 schools tho should get used to it. Our conference sucks.
They saw a lot of potential. No college football fan is used to interest in a coach after one season.

Exactly. Our fight is with Larry Scott. Bury him.Graham

Those are the one-year jumps off the top of my head. Yikes.

Those with low salaries, poor assistant pools and tough admissions?Of course.
That's not what you said though. Which fanbases are used to interest in their HC after one season?
Hint: is there a pattern to which conference the 1 year coaches left for?Exactly what?
Except that if it was bogus from the start, it should have been quickly quashed, especially with RG being right there.I guess we’ll see. If this was a bogus story from the start then you’re probably right. If this is a sign MT already has a wandering eye for some reason and will be chasing other jobs every offseason then it’s probably not a long term relationship.
Graham did it twice I think. But it was Rice and Pitt. Not a P12 team.Graham

A first time HC with a 5-7 season nonetheless. That is the strange part and anyone trying to downplay it or chalk it up to “BBF” doesn’t get it.No college football fan is used to interest in a coach after one season.
You hire, and pay, based on potential. He was a very reasonable second tier choice for MSU, especially if they called Saban, given their unusual circumstances.A first time HC with a 5-7 season nonetheless. Big Jim and Hawg1 = Legends in their own minds!Just by his flirting with Texas, Saban doomed Bama to lose their recruiting power and that explains why they are no longer a college football powerhouse.
This.RG and MT handled it like big time football pros. It looks like it will take some time for a few of the fans to catch up.
That’s damn funny. Your take?Big Jim and Hawg1 = Legends in their own minds!
What did this board do for cheap entertainment before they came along?
Don’t do that. You will get clumped in with me and Big Jim. Maybe Manhattan. Your reputation is too good for that.This.
I don't want to make this into something that's going to cause people to take sides or dig in. We are all on the same side here.
But people have got to wrap their heads around the fact that if we're swimming in the deep end:
- Other schools will try to hire Mel Tucker away
- Other schools will try to poach our assistants
- Many of our recruits will be playing up the drama during their recruitment and other schools will be trying to poach our commits
Mark Johnson just said on KOA that Tucker was still with Rick George on the west coast so I'd say no interview happened.
I heard late today from some well placed sources (but 2nd hand) that Mel did interview, and that RG and MT had a bit of a public spat.RG and MT handled it like big time football pros. It looks like it will take some time for a few of the fans to catch up.
