Mel Tucker leaves CU for Michigan State

Felony assault for one kid.
Going to be hard to contest the charges in court putting the videos in front of a jury along with the medical reports on the Michigan players who were on the receiving end.

Assuming though that none of the players charged have anything on their records that would work against them. Expect that once the season and bowls are over that these are all quietly plea bargained down to something less serious.

Lawyers on the board, what is your take?

Felony gets pled to a misdemeanor. Everyone gets some sort of deferred prosecution/sentence deal.

Warning - massive thread jack

The variation in sentences, even when taking race and economics out of the equation, is pretty baffling. Over the past two weeks, I saw the following in the news about rich white people:

1. Elizabeth Holmes commits years of fraud costing investors $3 billion, receives 11 years, three months
2. Todd Chrisley commits bank fraud for $30 million, receives 12 years
3. Local guy in Florida goes out for drinks on boat, has five double vodkas, slams boat into channel marker at high speed killing two fellow passengers, his wife and the one year old daughter of his friend who was also on the boat with his family, receives four years

Without digging, I'm guessing you're comparing a group of both state and federal cases.

It would possibly be more informative to compare sentences for similar charges within the same legal system and observe the variation.

Yes, that’s true. First two were federal, last was state.
