Moretti

Moretti probably won’t ever be the player he could have been had he never torn his ACL. Then again, he’d most likely be in Columbus, Ohio right now had he never sustained the injury in the first place.

I guess you're an expert? Thanks Dr. Hawg!
I have been open and honest about my assessment of Moretti and his comeback starting last spring. I’ve seen him four times. I mentioned drop foot a few weeks ago and the way he loses his balance when he has to get on his toes and drive, before MM made others aware Moretti is wearing a Ritchie Brace, rather than an AFO brace, for his drop foot.

I wish nothing but the best for Moretti.

I did something to my back years ago and lost the feeling in the right side of my right foot. I just realized it’s not numb anymore. Yea.

Yeah, but drop foot can go away Hawg. Its not really even a stretch to say he can come all the way back.

Anytime you have nerve damage there is a significant risk.

It isn't though like the CU staff went into bringing Moretti in blind. The CU team doctors are not unfamiliar with the condition, they have their contacts at the Anshutz campus who are experts in the condition.

If the probability of him coming back was not at least decent they wouldn't have given him a scholarship.

Unlike some posters here I claim no special knowledge or any knowledge of medicine. I do know that the coaching staff has access to the people who know a lot more than we do as fans.

Yes, the dorsiflexion can return. It may or may not be accompanied by pain, neuropathy and return to full strength.

I hope he plays.

What do you want a gold ****ing star for figuring out what has been obvious to most here for quite awhile.
What's your point? That Morretti may never be the player that he could've been? That we may be in trouble at LT?

Again, obvious to all.

What point are you trying to make by re-stating what has already been publicly acknowledged by MM but hinted at for over a year now with talk of nerve damage?

Your assesment of Morretti? Laughable!

The issue is foot drop. It doesn’t happen with all nerve damage. We’ve known, indeed, about nerve damage for a while. We heard about foot drop from coaches for the first tine this week, as well as the Ritchie brace. That was significant news.

It is not obvious to all. It may be to you and some others, but certainly not all. Expectations about Moretti’s health have been blown out of proportion since he got starting reps with 1s this spring. So, no, his health issues are not obvious to all, certainly not the extent of the nerve damage.

In Hawg’s defense, a number of posters have suggested that Moretti should be a starter. Hei is simply stating his opinion same as you.

Don't want to sound mean but I think the hype on this kid needs to die until he actually plays extensively.

AllBuffs.

Where you can post a totally logical and thought provoking reply and get nothing but moronic, uneducated assessments in return.

Hopefully Moretti comes back, nobody knows at this point but Hawg’s opinion is not out of the realm of extreme probability.

Is this the first that the drop foot issue was made public? I thought people had known about that for a long time.
To my knowledge, it was the first time I heard MM confirm it. Many may have suspected it. Maybe it was confirmed earlier by others.

OK, my apologies to the offended. I guess Hawg's purpose is to level set expectations wrt Jake to the AB board. I thought it was fairly obvious to all.

MM, the CU team, the staff of CU doctors, Jake's family and Jake himself may have different expectations based on an understanding of the actual facts.

The way I see it, we've got 2 guys fro LT who have a ton of talent and potential but also shouldn't be playing 100% of snaps this year.

Moretti because of this long recovery process and, if it's like the player for the Cowboys, the schedule is 1 year off, 1 year of limited play, then back to regular PT.

Sherman because at a listed 275 (and big guys always lose weight during camp, too), he's like Haigler was a a RS-Frosh when he split time at RT with Kronshage. Sherman doesn't have the mass to be our starting LG and play all the snaps there. But he's got the athleticism to play in space and handle college DEs (generally 250-270 lb guys).

Start Moretti at LT, rotate Sherman in. Then, start Kaiser at LG where his size and experience are major assets and his less quickness isn't a liability against an inside rush like it is against those outside DEs.

If that all works out, that 2019 oline could be pretty good with some decent depth. OT would still need to stay healthy, but have some options for a very good offense in 2019.

Agreed. He started a football game for the first time in years on Saturday. I'm a fan.
Awesome to see Jake out there, and getting the start no less.

That was a hard game to pay attention to. Any comments on how he looked specifically? Looked like he wasn't out there much in 2nd half. Limiting reps or something else?
Final question: are the OL grades out for UNH (and can anyone teach me what they actually mean)?

Stats for game 3 are out on cubuffs.com. Jake was in for 33 out of 75 offensive snaps. I guess the medical staff here at Allbuffs was a little premature with their prognosis.
