NCAA 2017 Skiing Championships thread- (March 8-11 in New Hampshire)

Started the day down 81 points to Utah (15 to DU). Now down 42 to Denver (7.5 to Utah).

Would take an amazing day tomorrow, but it's possible.

FRANCONIA, N.H. — University of Colorado freshman David Ketterer made history here Friday and in the process helped catapult the Buffaloes back into the hunt for the title as the third day of competition of the 64th annual Skiing Championships came to a close.

Defending national champion Denver became the third different leader in as many days, as he Pioneers have scored 419 points, with Utah, the top team at the midway point, now second (384½) while Colorado remained in third (377). The Buffaloes pulled 19½ points closer to the lead and trail by 42.

While a significant margin to make up, in 2013, CU trailed by 54 points heading into the final two events and would go on to win by 43, the largest comeback and reversal in NCAA history.

As often is the case, the title will come down to Saturday's Nordic competition. The freestyle races with mass starts will finish off the meet with the men up first with their 20-kilometer race at 8 a.m. MST, which will be followed by the women's 15k at 10 a.m.

So unofficial results (http://barttiming.com/eisa/Results17/ncaa2017-8.htm) were finally updated for the finish. Per those UNOFFICIAL results, DU with an impressive 93 points, followed by CU with 70 and Utah and Dartmouth tieing for 3rd with 65 points. IF that ends up what happens officially, that would put the Buffs within a couple points of the Utes for 2nd going into the final race.

The women beat DU by 39 points in the classic. Need to beat them by 51 (and beat Utah by 21 instead of 18) to win the overall. Stranger things have happened. Let's go Buffs!

Buff women gambling- top 2 have taken out the pace HARD and already have a little gap over a 3rd skier with the 1st of 3 laps coming to a close.

Rolandsen also with a 1st team All-American performance with her 3rd place finish!

Jesse Knori actually moved up a few places from the 10K point to unofficially (per the stream announcers) finish in 27th. They also said she looked to be having leg problems. I assume, if nothing else, the colder than normal spring weather (announcers said it was around 1 degree Fahrenheit) did NOT help her arthritis (see post #16) any.

Those two DNFs on Day One sunk us. DU, Utah and CU were so evenly matched this year with CU slightly better, but we dug ourselves too deep of a hole.
