Official 2016 Coaching Carousel Thread - How safe is Kevin Sumlin´s job?

http://www.barkingcarnival.com/2014/1/14/5308182/culture-change-at-texas

Lol Charlie Strong's rules:

4. No earrings in the football building. No drugs. No stealing. No guns. Treat women with respect.

Reads more like a list of things you must overlook as a football coach.

My favorite:
7. There's no time for a rebuild. "I don't have time for that." The expectation is that Texas wins now.

so, no earrings and bling and such but he's in the mix, true or not, for the Miami job. i thought the university buying out off campus leases is dangerously close to an abuse of public moneys in a place like Texas where park benches and water fountains are creeping Socialism and the Commie Nanny State.

anyway, you go Charlie. Mack beat OU in his last year, too. hooray.

once again, ATM is foundering when they could really be taking over the GSoT. but as they say: aggy=aggy.

Good read on Les Miles potentially being let go. Les would like to retire after next season, while the power brokers are worried he'd be a lame duck coach, and the program will slip even more. The buyout may look bad publically, but they have the money, and feel it's worth it to make the move now.

Can't say that was a good read. The source sounds like any message board guy to me May be good, or fake.

i don't what counts as a 'good run' in Ames....but godspeed Paul Rhoads. it's Iowa State.

Mangino seems like a tremendous ass.

no pun intended.

Rhoads may make sense if we need to replace leavitt. A little chatter about him heading to K State (they'll get somebody connected to Grandpa if he leaves) or Central Florida.

Syracuse cans a guy in year three with a 13-23 record in the dog**** ACC after having his predecessor, who was in place for 5 years, hired away by the NFL because they were on an upswing.

FIFY. Not sure Syracuse would be the football program I'd choose to emulate.

Maybe not, but the "you can't fire a guy in year three" mantra seems less viable. Personally, I lean towards keeping MikMac for year four, but something keeps making me think RG has other plans.....

I am still in the same camp as you. Really think before he lets Leavitt go to ksu, he calls him in and says " If I make you head coach, will you stay?"
just a feel'n

The first hiring is in:
Minnesota: Interim HC/DC Tracy Claeys tagged to replace the retiring Jerry Kill

Openings:

Mizzou: Pinkel resigns for health reasons (Herman, Fuentes, Matt Ruhle rumors)

Maryland: Edsall out (Bill O'Brien rumors)
University of North Texas: Dan McCarney out. (OU OC Lincoln Riley supposedly interviewed, ASU AC Chris Thomsen rumors)
University of Illinois: Tim Beckman out. Rumors interim HC Bill Cubit may get the gig.
U$C: Sarkissian out. (Sean Payton rumors)
The other USC: Spurrier to retire as in right now (h/t to Sno); (Tom Herman, Justin Fuentes, Rich Rod rumors)
Miami: Golden out (Butch Davis, Mario Cristobal rumors)
UCF: O'Leary out
VTech: Beamer retires (Chad Morris, Dan Mullen rumors)
UH: Chow out (June Jones wants back in)
UL_Monroe: Todd Berry fired.
Iowa St.: Paul Rhodes out, Mangino celebrates with four chocolate sundaes. Rumors about Navy's Ken Nuumiatialo (I'm pretty sure there is another vowel in his name somewhere....
Syracuse: Schaffer out.

KjSU: Snyder may retire, 76 years old now, KjSU looking at possible replacements (Sean Snyder, Matt Wells, Brent Venables, Jim Leavitt rumors)

Hot seat:

UGA: Richt
LSU: Miles (who may come to CU, retire, run for President, and/or be named Ambassador to Lithuania) Rumors, G. Patterson, D. Swinney, T. Herman
UVA: London
Purdue: Halzell
NMSU: Martin
WVU: Holgerson
Indiana: Wilson

UT (because they need their own category) Strong has the support of the Admin. (for now), weirdly says he will not talk to Miami, Miami says he is on their short list. Who knows? As the big cigars turn....

I expect the Carousel to shift into fourth gear after next weekends games. The biggies (UT, LSU, UGA) could all be in play.

I think you have to add Sean Snyder to the list of KSU candidates if Bill retires.

I´m repeating myself, but this wouldn´t be a good year for CU to be in the market for a new HC.

Expect more stories like this in the coming weeks. The coaching pool doesn´t have enough candidates to fill every position, expect some hires or rumours right out of left field and for programs to kick the tires on some guys who´re retired or have been out of it for a bit.

Joe Schad apparently just reported on SportsCenter that Les Miles situation could be resolved today.

EDIT:

Twitter smoke machine at full throttle. Sounds like LSU has donors with the cast to push out Les. Can't believe it. $15mil to get rid of a coach that two weeks ago was #2, has averaged 10 wins since arriving at LSU, has won a NC... I just don't know who they think they are gonna get this year to replace him.

EDIT 2:

Looks like its happening.

Unreal.

Apparently there is a group of donors that believes they can swap him out for Jimbo. We shall see.
