Something is definitely up down there. Any word on what it is?
Media down here is buzzing that Sumlin might be gone now. They're looking into how much it would cost to buy him out.
Gonna be tough to swing financially, even with their money. Being butthurt at some transfers is still a tough justification for all the buyout money that will be involved.
Isn't a&m top five in endowment in the country?
I was thinking the same thing, but it's a good enough job with enough money behind it that I'd imagine there'd be plenty of quality candidates.Who would be available this late in the game if they were to fire Sumlin?

aggy is an okay job. They would have trouble finding an upgrade at this juncture.

They aren't likely to find a new conference at the level they think they should be (P5) until the church elders receive two new revelations: 1. it's ok to play games and/or travel on Sunday and 2. the school should actually support that whole academic freedom thing.BYU still needs to find a conferences. Certainly this splits some of the Polys away from Utah. Gary Anderson will also push hard in that space. Bronco often seems a bit weird in the Media. Sitake doesn't. In that regard I think it's a step up for BYU.
They pack stadiums with their members and drive TV numbers. From a business side they make a lot more sense than most. I believe they won't be part of the pac 12, but certainly could fit in the big 12. Their fan base desperately wants in.They aren't likely to find a new conference at the level they think they should be (P5) until the church elders receive two new revelations: 1. it's ok to play games and/or travel on Sunday and 2. the school should actually support that whole academic freedom thing.
The second one hurts more than many people realize. If the school leadership really saw the light and started supporting academic freedom in a meaningful way, I think they'd find a conference willing to negotiate on the Sunday stuff. But right now, there's no group of university presidents that are willing to go to their faculty and say "yes, we're formally aligned with and sharing money with a school that formally and informally censors their scholars."
So an asshat throws out a wild rumor and the media runs with it, pretty pathetic. The source of the Sumlin rumor is none other than Chip Brown. He made the comments on an Arkansas radio station. No wonder so many people hate Chip Brown.
