Official 2016 Coaching Carousel

I just double checked Ken Niumatalolo's playing and coaching background. It is clear he played QB in an option system and has run an option system as a coach for every stint with the possible exception of calling plays at UNLV from 1999-2002. Please let this happen.

Bigger loss for Nebraska on the recruiting front is Brian Stewart:

Sounds like Stewart was also fired (whole staff fired)? Banker was with Riley for about 12 years at Oregon State. Very Kent Baer like.

Edit: Nope, Stewart left for a promotion. 10 minutes after that, Riley announced Banker's non-renewal.

Cal tried to fire Dykes for cause and that was one of the main factors why it took so long, 5.88m buyout

http://www.californiagoldenblogs.co...-for-cause-failed-5-88-million-buyout-looming

The case centered around multiple factors, including...
  • Dykes interviewing with multiple programs, including Baylor this week.
  • Dykes not letting defensive coordinator Art Kaufman go in a timely manner (Kaufman was still on Cal staff until several weeks after the season ended). The report is that Cal Athletics felt Dykes was dragging his feet.
  • Dykes not getting around to finding a defensive coordinator until very late in the process. Williams apparently fired him when Dykes went to consult him for a list.

None of those things are reasons to fire for cause. They're just things that annoy the boss. You have to get caught doing lines off a hookers ass to get fired for cause.

I think some in Auburn's program are getting tired of the non-development of QBs and felt Lashlee was too much of a "yes man" for Malzahn.

While I can see why they were frustrated with Dykes, this isn't good PR for Cal. Not a good job.

Dykes was never a fit at CAL....example of a bad hire.

They were hoping that an electric offense would sell seats. Common mistake in sports. Fans will get behind any style of winning. Winning is what matters. Losing in an entertaining way that draws fans is not something that exists. Winning with a style that draws extra fans because of the entertainment value is not a thing either. Fans show up for a winner. Fans don't show up for a loser. Period.
