Official Bowl Season Thread

I don't think Georgia, Oregon, Memphis, Baylor, or Wisconsin belong in a playoff. Until we get a 5th team who genuinely gets screwed......why are we talking about this? Let's start by making sure the entire P5 plays the same amount of P5 games.
If they don’t belong, they’ll get beat in the first round. Better than a Cotton Bowl game that literally means nothing for the winner

The staff people for the bowl sponsor were very organized. There were Cheez-It crackers in the Gatorade and Calhoun was covered with them after he got doused. Odd Note: He (TC) caused a minor stir in MW circles this year with an offhand remark that the AFA might be better off leaving the MW and playing an independent schedule. IIRC it was after a home night game that was poorly attended. Apparently the newer tranche of Springs residents are not adopting the AFA as a home team to the extent that the old timers did.

They could easily pull that off. The Big Sky/WAC (baseball) could take most of their other sports outside of hockey, and they'd probably be more competitive in at least basketball. As far as football, they'd continue to play Army, Navy, and probably open their seasons as they do most years with an FCS team. They'd be easy for BYU to play every year like they do with Boise. I'm sure they could get 1-3 games a year with Pac 12 opponents (us probably being one of them 4 times in 10 years) like BYU does too. CSU and Wyoming would want to continue to play them as an OOC game. The Big 10 considers AFA a power 5 opponent for the purposes of OOC scheduling already, and I'm sure the other leagues who mandate their teams play a P5 opponent in the OOC would do the same......so AFA would easily be able to put more attractive home schedules as an independent than they do in the MWC. Their offensive scheme is unconventional enough to where they could have the kind of success they do now as an independent.

I've said UNLV's the easiest addition to the Pac 12 given the Raiders' impending arrival in Vegas.......If that pans out does AFA come with them to the Pac 12? The Big 12 talked to them when expansion started, and they said no-but they did beat us and Wazzu this year.....so they could probably compete regularly with most teams in the league (not Oregon).

The Pac-12 and ACC rightfully get roasted for weaknesses, but the Big 12 is not much better, if at all.
The problem for the PAC 12 right now is the lack of a truly elite team at the top. Compared to the ACC or the B12 I would make a strong argument that the PAC12 is a much tougher conference. The bottom teams in the ACC and B12 are terrible compared to the bottom of the PAC. The middle teams in the PAC look to be stronger than the middle of those conferences.

What the PAC12 doesn't have is a Clemson which is an elite program (and slices through that conference like a hot knife through whipped butter) or an Oklahoma which has an elite offense and is able to dominate the B12

Even the B1G and the SEC have some bottom teams that for all purposes constitute a bye week for the top teams but they do have more quality teams at the top.

Just read on the LSU 247 board LSU's offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger's daughter in law died in a plane crash this morning. Her plane was in route to the game. LSU 247 site reporter says Ensminger will coach the game while another poster says that Ensminger is enroute to Louisiana and Joe Brady will call the game.
Tragic news for the Ensminger family.
Edit: Now being reported that Ensminger is on the field

Much more important than a football game. May he find peace.

Yeah, I could definitely see an Indie AFA schedule that has permanent home/always with Army, Navy, CSU, and WYO. Then you add in 8 other games, divided up as 6 P5s and 2 respectable G5s.....

Add BYU to that list too. If AFA did this, those two agreeing to play every year would be mutually beneficial (in late October or November).

Well, that was quick. OU better answer or it might be a long afternoon. Their body language didn't look too bueno.

Oh my, this is awful, I can’t even begin to fathom the families pain. During the Holidays no less and while trying to go somewhere to experience something joyous. Tragic, may they find peace.

edit: they just showed it and said she was 20, how awful.

I might be B_walking LSU by asking this-but if they advance........how much purple and gold will be in the Superdome in two weeks?

looks like this one is gonna be a shootout if Okie can keep up. Guessing Hurts throws a couple picks and it gets out of hand
