I don’t get the idea of a university telling a kid where he can and can’t transfer. He already has to lose a year of eligibility by leaving, so what asshole decided that the former university got to deny transferring to certain programs and why?

I think that could be the rule and the school would have the option to waive it.Agree. This is a terrible system. Easy solution is to make it a blanket rule no transfers to schools on the former team's schedule while the player has eligibility. Allowing the Nebraska's of the world to pick and choose is awful.
In the case of Bell, he was a Frost recruit. He's a juco who only has a limited window to show himself for NFL scouts and he got demoted to 2nd string last week.We all know (be honest about it) that as many kids commit to a coach as commit to a school.
It would be fair and appropriate that as long as that school is not on the schedule of the school losing the player that players should be able to follow a fired coach without penalty to his new HC job.

How about Greg Bell can go wherever the **** he wants? Why do coaches get leave whenever they want but we're restricting kids?
Up next - IRON MAN FOOTBALL!!!Adding Oregon State means that there are other potential players that might transfer to the school where the former coach is affiliated. The roster is so weak, that even though they want to clean house of anyone not wanting to be there, but losing anymore kids would be really tough.
Thanks. I was wondering if this applies. There is a new rule starting next Monday. I wonder if this allows Bell to hold off on transferring until next week and get to go wherever he wants as long as the conference has no objections.

Every part of NU answers to the football program. Trust me that their registrar would do that. That transfer letter said the schools could not contact the athlete. What happens if the athlete shows up at Oregon State's facility and says I want in? Further, say the kid enrolls wtf can f*ck nebraska do other than withhold transcripts? (I don't think any reasonable registrar would do that for a whiny assed b*tch coach.)
Pure gold!
I believe the issue is with aid money. A player can transfer, enroll anywhere they want and play as a walk on (I am reasonably sure). But when the school doesn't release a transfer to certain schools, the player cannot get sports related aid (or I guess the same sports related aid) at the new school for one year (again I think it is one year). Or something along those lines. That transfer letter said the schools could not contact the athlete. What happens if the athlete shows up at Oregon State's facility and says I want in? The tone in Nebraska has gone from we are going to compete for the Big 10 title to there is a good vibe and the kids MIGHT find a way to finally win a game. What a bunch of delusional fools not accepting it is a full rebuild, and that there are maybe 3-4 kids that would be effective players on any other big time roster in the Big 10. It is going to take 3 years and 3 more classes to get the depth built back up. Is there no reality for these folks.
It is nice to be essentially 10 games better than the Huskers 5-0 : 0-5, not correct math, but it makes me feel better.

My grandparents on my mom’s side are Iowa grads so I do have Hawkeye blood. I’ll adopt them as my B1G team.
Anyone?I've been looking for the clip, but haven't found it. I'd love to see it posted
