CP is all about second chances for non violent offenders, but he has also proven that he doesn’t **** around and isn’t afraid to remove someone from the team that deserves it. I’m perfectly comfortable with him taking chances on guys like Mitchell. Zero concerns.Gilbert was always a huge risk, and Rhule was pretty vocal about providing all the things he would need to succeed (for a semester).
Juwan Mitchell is obviously also a risk.
As a 35-year old (2nd trip around the bases, and closer to home than 2nd base), suburban white male, my expertise on how to handle those things is a bit lacking. But it sure seems to me that if anyone can fix a troubled young black player, it just seems more likely to be Coach Prime (a tough disciplinarian who can also related to young black men) over a guy like Rhule who seems so disconnected from that demographic. Everything the guy says is cringe.
But all this remains to be seen. Sanders has taken a risk with Mitchell and I always hope these young men figure things out and prosper. Both these players have NFL potential and have done pretty much everything to screw their chances. Gilbert just took it a lot further this morning.
