They'd make more playing Tennessee in Knoxville than they would play some directional school at home, but Fusker math.
Fusker math is that a win over a directional school validates their self-image, getting blown out twice by an SEC school demonstrates the reality.

They also know that with where they stand in the B1G they will probably need that OOC win to reach bowl eligibility.

Lets get Tennessee in Boulder in 2026 instead of Weber State and go to Knoxville in 2027
As long as a Big 12 championship remains an automatic bid to the playoffs, there's not as much that argues against playing a fun schedule that gets us on tv a lot in the non-conference. Even concerns about wearing down aren't that compelling to me because I don't see the Big 12 as a murderer's row - just a collection of good teams that are well coached and can't be taken lightly.

We are a spectacle and we must take advantage of that. If we can make more money via good TV slots or 3rd party TV (TNT) and tickets etc, we have to do it.
Viewership for Weber State will be ESPN+
We want to be in P2, we need to play P2. Pay off Weber State and make a big game, even neutral field could be on the table like the 1989-90 team did

I like where @4BienemyTDs is going, but I think he's slightly off. Keep the Weber game. We're going to need that cupcake. What I'd do is this-I'd drop Northwestern for Tennessee. I don't see the value in playing NW-they were bottom five in the B1G last year, their stadium is going to become one of the smallest in the power 4 when they're done with it, and I'd be concerned about both games not getting great TV spots even with the draw that CP is.

OTOH, replacing them with Tennessee would be easy after the whatever we'd need to buy out Northwestern happens. They have 3 OOC openings in both years. ESPN would likely be all over this-Prime heading to one of the biggest venues in the sport in Neyland? Rick and their AD did a three game basketball series in the middle of the pandemic......so I think this might be doable.

What a ****ing tool. He’s “giving away information”? Really? How about you don’t give away anything that you don’t want to give away. Seriously. He’s a tool.
Here's the information he's giving away.

His team sucks, his OL can't block his backup DL, his QB is grossly overrated, his practices lack organization and his recruits are figuring out that what they are getting as a team isn't what they were told in recruiting.

It's not like he has any secret talent hidden away. The players he has who are good enough to go elsewhere are already known by other programs from the recruiting process.

Nobody is going out of their way to go scout the fusker's spring game. He has players who want out but opponents don't have to tamper, those players themselves can and do make the contacts either directly or through their friends they know from high school and the recruiting process.

Nebraska fans did finally get a bowl game this year but they are still a shell of what they promote themselves as. They want people to think they are a power program, a blue blood. The truth is that they are no closer to winning the B1G than the MAC teams that get beaten up by the top teams in a similar fashion as the fuskers do.

Lots of alums and student applications for CU from the Chicago area. Plus we don't want to burn any B1G bridges. Significant non-football and football reasons to keep that game - and even make a big deal about it.

I get that on Chicago-but I think there are better ways to up that than playing one of the worst teams in the Big 10 at one of the smallest stadiums in the power 4. Get Iowa or Indiana to play you at Soldier Field or something instead of playing SMU in 2030 or whenever that's scheduled for.

Burning bridges with a conference doesn't matter-they don't run this sport. TV networks do, and thats easy. ESPN would take the Tennessee home game and FOX would get the one here.

There's no need to kneecap ourselves compared to just about everyone else at the P4 level
CT, explain Kneecapping?
I am only saying this If and When the CFP goes to Automatic Qualifiers, under the current system, we are just fine, but when there are AQ's, we only need to win the Big12, and our non-con means very little, except possibly in Seeding within the CFP, but SOS and SOR may mean more anyway.
We need $$$$$$$$ to compete in the same way as the P2 folks, and anything we can do we should do. If the AQ kicks in, then we need to play the toughest and most exciting schedule possible, BUT, I also only want it if we can get the Big12 or some other 3rd party to pay us way more money for these big games, just like the old Kickoff Classics were big money because they had to promise both programs a lot of money.
One idea would be to play the game in Dallas as a neutral field game, and if needed, bring Weber State down there with us and create another game for them before our game. Get us the 7pm game, and then play Weber State against someone else on the turf earlier in the day.
My idea has pre-requisites
