Had a wonderful meeting with my boss today. Boss told a story that is just *chef's kiss* perfect for the nub mentality.

Boss is from Nubland, but escaped other than when they return for family stuff. At a family gathering, boss was having a conversation with their brother in law, who is a huge nub fan. Backstory: His family inherited a bunch of money a generation ago, and is now destitute or near to it. They have nothing left and nothing to show for it. What did they spend it on? Well, they used to be nub super fans! Season tickets of high quality, traveling to all the away games, etc. Both BIL and his dad didn't work. No more, however. The inheritance is gone.

Anyway, at this family gathering my boss, after a few drinks, opined that our society spends too much attention and money on pro and some collegiate sports, and should reallocate that attention and money to more important things. Boss did not specifically mention the nubs. BIL of boss starts blowing up, saying the money his family spent on the nubs was important and not a waste at all because, among other things, it gave them "hope." (pause for deep laugh. At this point, I told the boss that it's too bad I wasn't there because I'd have made some wonderful suggestions on that topic)

That aside, Boss suggests maybe the money on the nubs could have been spent on something more concrete and societally important than hope about a football season, like clean water for those in need.

Nub BIL: "EVERYONE IN THE WORLD HAS CLEAN WATER." (he is now yelling at boss, and this has gotten loud and uncomfortable for the gathering)

Boss: What? Clean water is something millions of people don't have.

Nub BIL (who, btw, is not drunk because he is a recovering alcoholic): "PROVE IT"

Boss: backs away slowly, realizing they have activated the lizard brain.

Epilogue: Boss ended up apologizing for their part in the family blow up to the nub BIL. Nub BIL does not apologize, and his wife tells boss that it was boss's fault for slandering the nubs.

And that is how you spend a one on one check in productively.

TL;DR

Upshot: Nubs are dumb.

We had to lay down entire rigs when random tests showed they were high as kites. Even the guy way up in the finger boards.
Yet we are going to kick all the immigrants out and onshore all these jobs....
If my under employed cousins/nephews/nieces etc are any indication, this ain't going to work out so well.
