Official Buffs vs. Stanford Game Thread

No offense, but are you the massive dick who only shows up on game day?
I HAVE a massive dick, but don’t know about the rest.

It’s funny how jerkoffs on this board expect you to be on here all week, every week ... otherwise you have no right to post. Actually, some people have lives, and hobbies, and families, and think and do other things not associated with CU sports and only sometimes come on a comment board. What the living **** is that about?

I’m simply saying we have to play flawless to beat a couple Top 10 teams. And nearly flawless to be a clearly more talented UW team. But yeah, that makes me an asshole.

Eat a dick.

Absolutely big to win & break the streak. Chance to do it again coming up. But I can’t imagine “squeaking by on a last-second field goal at home to break a 5-game losing streak” is all that impressive to recruits. Today’s game will not likely be a major factor in decisions.
Honestly, the ones who are coming for a site visit are serious about their interest (probably) and what they want to see is what it FEELS like to be there and win, so they can imagine it and being the contributor they think they have the potential to be at a badass winning D1 football team.

I think today gave them that: the beautiful autumn Folsom setting, great facilities, not a perfect team but a fun one to win on.

Really fun game today. The offense nearly made my head explode. Giving up a 80 yard touchdown on 3rd and 15 nearly made my head explode. Now that I think about it, it’s a minor miracle my head didn’t explode.

Great crowd. Great weather. Great game. Only downside is not having Ralphie run. Probably her last season.

Trujillo and Luckett getting thrown into the fire this season seems like it will pay off in a big way the next 3 years. There should be some legitimate depth and competition at CB next season, assuming Blackmon and Miller come back healthy.
I wouldn’t say depth necessarily. Competition sure but 4 solid guys at CB isn’t enough. Obviously getting some freshmen in will help but when we’re in the dime/nickel as much as we are, you need more than 4

He is probably including Jaylen Striker and Nigel Bethel. Obviously we know nothing about them at this point though.

I probably need to see a flip and another grad transfer to feel comfortable.

Next year will be the first time in a long time we should/could have 4 guys with significant experience, though. Add in Bethel, Stryker (If he’s a CB) and (possibly) Gonzalez, and it should far better group than this season.

Watching the replay. At the end of the first half, how the hell did Pryts not get a 15 yard penalty for kicking our guy who was on the ground? And how did Stanford not get an offensive PI in the end zone against Onu? I’m so sick of the Pac 12 officiating.

Several of you are students of the game. I’m just a casual observer. But our offensive scheme in the passing game just appears unimaginative and disjointed.

Also, Fontenot is a good running back. But his pass blocking is a huge liability.

I love grind-it-out games like this.

the pac-12 refs are horrible. No personal on the guy who stomped on Fontenot, no OPI on Onu when he was pushed down, and the hit on the Montez slide would have been called if it was a Buff player involved on the hit. Luckily, a couple clutch calls were made down the stretch.

KD had a catchable ball in the end zone, players eyeing the pros make that catch, especially with the game on the line.

Anyone talking **** about Viska needs to shut the **** up. The kid came in with some nagging dings and still made the plays when it mattered, including eating the soul of that Stanford kid on that jet sweep.

The defense showed up at the right time. Aside from the 80 yard TD, they kept everything respectable. Trujillo and Luckett are on the track to be GOOD. Wish Davion had another season. The D-line was getting in there.

The Price is right! I’m not sure what is going on with Steff, but it seems like an injury situation...old nagging soccer injury maybe? Looks like we have a kicker either way.

hopefully some recruits saw their opportunity for next year and the next few years. Folsom definitely seemed charged. It’s frustrating to think Buffs could be bowl eligible now...it’ll need to come down to playing out of their minds the next two games!

I didn’t get to watch most of the game. I did see the INT by Montez and it was 100% Stanley’s fault and there’s no question. He physically stopped running the route.

What happened on the KD one that should have been a TD bear the end, though? I was listening on the radio and MJ/Barnett said he was wide open and pulled his arms back like he was surprised it was coming to him. Can anyone elaborate on what happened? KD has been a little disappointing in recent games.

As a side note: Mark Johnson is the most frustrating PBP guy, especially in close games. He is the king of painting the most irrelevant picture of what happened on the play. Goes through 10 seconds of worthless garble during/after each play before he actually tells you how many yards were picked up or if it was a 1st down, etc. His ridiculous voice inflection and excitement are very misleading as well.

Stanley appeared to be the one at fault on the INT. Montez was unhappy with something that he did.

The KD mistake looked like he thought there may have be someone behind him as the target. From where I sat, KD appeared to think that the pass didn't look like it was intended for him, he just happened to be close enough to deflect it. KD has never shied away from trying to make a play, so it's not in his nature to avoid a catch.

Unfortunate but those things happen.

Can't answer the KD question as I was listening to the radio feed as well. Your point about Mark Johnson is spot on. He'd be a much better play by play man on TV where you can actually see what's going on.

The KD play was deflected off a helmet. Whether it was going to him or not, idk. He acted like it wasn't. He should've just went ahead and grabbed it, walked in. Oh well, we won anyway.

Montez was scrambling, tried to get it to KD who was just outside the end zone, but the throw was bad enough KD thought it was for someone behind him and pulled his arm back so as not to tip it. In fact, no one was behind him.

WHAt an awesome day. Homecoming is always a blast.

Good performance by the defense but I wouldn’t expect that to continue. That was a favorable matchup against a scheme that isn’t exactly big play heavy which has been our Achilles heel.

NIXON MAKES THE GRAB, HE SHEDS A DEFENDER, HE WIGGLES AND SPINS HIS WAY FORWARD, WHAT AN INCREDIBLE INDIVIDUAL EFFORT ON THAT PLAY, HE SIMPLY WOULD NOT BE STOPPED!!!!!! IT'S A ONE YARD GAIN, THAT SETS UP SECOND-AND-NINE FOR THE BUFFALOES"

It drives me insane. You'd think we had just won the rose bowl on plays where we lose yards.
