Fortunately, CFB hasn't changed a bit in the last 30 years, so we should definitely employ the Mac model and timeline.
I really enjoy your posts, but every time you launch this justification, you sound like the proverbial moral victory claimant.
For the people that are banging the table for Flea and Hart to be replaced. Why do you think they need to go? Out of curiosity.
The team they were on last year was the worst P5 team since 2000 and the worst graded P5 team in PFF history. I am not following you, they weren't any good then and are no good now. Just because they are on a better team now doesn't mean they are better for it when they are basically the same.
Shedeur is going to be playing on Sundays. He's plenty good. He just needs to learn to not hold onto the ball as long as he does.
I think we can survive with what we have developing on the team in most of the non-line positions (except LB, maybe). We absolutely MUST focus on bringing in10-20 (30?) new OL & DL for next year. That has to be the entire focus of this next year. We have shown that it doesn't matter how many 4* you have at the skill positions, if your lines can't do the job, you will be fighting a horribly frustrating battle all year.
Our DL has some heart and athleticism, but needs all of that with a serious increase in size and power. I used to think Tank and Van Wells were going to be good OL.... I've given up on those two going forward.
There was a goal line running play where #16 ended up doing an odd delayed dive, and--again--our three middle OL were standing up looking back at the WSU defenders who crushed him without ever being touched by an OL. This is on the goal line... How is that even possible with everyone clogged up in there? How can our OL not be--at least--on the ground with some WSU defender they are attempting to block?
It's really amazing to think, we almost never get a holding call... but the reason is not good technique: the reason is--mostly--that our OL are rarely close enough to a DL/LB to get ahold of them.
The level of OL incompetence has ruined this season completely. I'm truly tired or having to say that at the end of every freakin' year. This year may be the worse in some ways: I was given hope--after believing I really couldn't hope again--and then... this.... This goes beyond PTSD at this point. I can barely watch anymore.

Flea is still unknown to me. Given how bad this OL is, I can give him one more year.
Hart? LB is the second worst group in this team. He either is bad at intensifying talent, or recruiting, or coaching. Possibly all three.
I don't see a top 5 pick, Heisman frontrunner or generational talent, however. And he's been called all that.
He is the best QB we have ever had in 20 years. Possibly longer. That's enough for me
Of course, I have to use prospective. This is the most improved team in the NCAA. It's just goes to show you how far they were last year. I had insanely expectations which was 7 wins with 3 toss ups but I was wrong. The OL was every bit as bad as the scouts said and pretty much spot on about the team for the most part.
So I have to think about where we was last year. We are much better than we were.
If its because of recruiting I don't think that's fair. They got here in December and didn't have much time. I'm reserving judgements until I see what happens with this cycle especially at the LB spot. We need an overhaul there.
I think we improved across the board, except as to OL. This was "blocking sled" bad.

Last night was brutal.
Even with CP being sick - the flu is no joke, probably amplified by traveling and being in the cold humid air too. There just seems to be a complete disconnect between him and the other coaches. Almost like many know that their days are numbered, and CP is making mental notes for what is needed/wanted for next season.
The OL as a unit is complete garbage. Staff, players, scheme…all garbage compared to what is needed at this level to be competitive. BoB probably needs to coach HS or go into sled sales…
The QB play has fallen off of the cliff. Week 1, Shedeur was poised and doing things that haven’t been seen at CU for the QB position for 20 years or longer. Quick/great decisions, great pre-snap reads. Just all around clutch playing. Since 2H of the Stanford game, that has faded and diminished into what we’ve seen in 2021 and 2022. Which is correlated to trash overall the Oline overall, and horrendous play calling.
The Dline…that is a confusing bunch. Way undersized. They could be stronger, faster, more athletic than last year’s bunch, but being taken out of the equation more often than not tells us that they aren’t up to snuff at this level. Not sure if Coach Sal is to blame? The edges are alright, JD seems to get his nose into the mix often enough, but I feel like Carson Wells did more at his heights of productive playing.
The LB’s aren’t doing much of anything. Sadly but I felt more productivity out of guys like JVD and Gamboa than what this position group is giving. Moving Woods in to a LB role shows that this position was an overall miss with what was brought in…and the befuddlement of whatever Mitchell had/has going on. At the end of the day, he was brought in way late, and is in his last year. He shows that he has some flashes of being a menace out there. Just let him play.
It seems like Shilo has not been as Shilo since getting a BS targeting ejection at UCLA. Also, maybe Prime should be more hands on with that secondary group. Having two of the top CB’s in their respective classes, one is like a bright green avocado out there 6-7/10 plays, and is susceptible to the opposing match getting in his head. The other has played the most snaps in CFB, even with missing 3.5 games, and it’s not even close…and he is still probably playing with residual rust and pain, that is being added to with each play he makes because he is doing what he can to carry this team…much like Shedeur was doing up through UCLA
I haven’t been watching any of the insider videos on YouTube the last couple weeks, but from what is shown on game day, it seems like the total team chemistry is all but gone. Coaches are quiet, players aren’t lifting/building each other up. A complete turnaround from the Buffs against the nation feeling from late summer into the season.
It all boils down to preparation, focus, and having the players to execute what the coaching staff implements. Next year, the Buffs either need to have the stingiest defense ever to thwart off BigXII offensive attacks, or have a faster, more explosive offense than the other teams.
An OC with a system that compliments Shedeur and possibly Hill or Underwood (
). If Lewis isn’t the guy…O’Neil will likely move on. I’m on the fence about Kelly. His past is suspect as a DC, but his recruiting is great, and he seems to have an understanding of what CP expects. His adjustments are a F-, especially any routes that go under coverage in the middle…and the adjustments to stop gashing runs, yuck.

Depends on how good people think he is. He is not currently #1 overall status, but he does have that potential. Do you think he looks better on Washington or Oregon’s team?
I never said timeline or Mac Model
I was talking about how the Mac Model is the Whittingham model today. Laser focus on a dominating Defense that will disrupt and cause even the best teams to not score or score less than 14 points. Have the best Special Teams that do not give up kick returns cause all balls are kicked into the end zone or covered. Make all your field goals. Run the ball right down their throats.
Each of those things are collective units and disciplines and does not have to rely on 1 or 2 players. Chris Brown started that Nebraska game as the 3rd string back. SS and TH are NFL studs, they are our Kordell Stewart and Deion Figures, and cannot win alone. Judge the team on the core units and the progress of the core units. Utah has won 7 games with their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string QB all year. 7 games is the floor with good to great Defense, Special Teams, and Running, and sprinkle in good game management.
I am excited about next season, we just need to frame the analysis bottom up and not top down

People don't like to remember the depth of the hole we were in.
The only thing I can compare it to was that last years team was like Fort Lewis who gave up 82 to a team that wasn't trying.
This year teams were trying to put a beating on us. Last year teams felt sorry and tried not to score 70s and 80s.
We were so bad that we could be much better this year and still be bad.
We are like the morbidity obese person who weighed 600 lbs. We lost 200lbs which is huge and now we have hope, now we can do some normal things, but we are still obese. We still need to get rid of another 150lbs to be normal.
I think all coaches do. Sanders just isn't used to it.
Thats where Im at. Lets see where the Buffs are at with a couple of actual full recruiting cycles under their belt.
Dorrell didn't seem that bothered by it.
He’s definitely good enough to be a Heisman front runner but it isn’t going to happen on a bad team. He’s also good enough to be a top 5 pick (see Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, etc etc). “Generational talent” is probably strong, but that’s also what Trevor Lawrence and Caleb Williams were/have been labeled.
You know that being elite in college is not a prerequisite to succeeding in the NFL

Prime will get us there. Just a tough season to endure this year. I think what made it harder was the TCU win and then all the hype that made us feel we were back. It made it even harder to watch the losing streak unfold and reality to set in that there is a long way to go. Really long. At one point we were like #16 in the rankings or so? Ending up in last place stings a bit but we are better.
It’s more disappointing this year than last year since we expected to lose everything last year. But there’s hope and real belief Prime will fix it with a few recruiting cycles and good days ahead.
Until then, Nebraska is still a volleyball school. And maybe CU is just a women’s basketball school? (In all seriousness, JR built up women’s basketball to where it is now and it took time. she should be national coach of the year. Prime needs time to do the same with football. And he will.
Yesterday was tough to endure. Today I feel like I can take a more realistic look and say…. It’s hard but just gotta have patience. Good things ahead.
