George said today they 'hope' to get it done by August. First time I heard him waiver a bit. He was still talking June not long ago

Was trying to hear over the crap sound system but thought RG said the weight room was moving to the new facility in ~2 weeks so they could demo the current one and start on the new Touchdown Club area behind the new end zone seats/boxes. Also said something about some folks moving in on June 1 and everyone else by August before school starts.

Walked around the stadium a bit before the 'game'. Man Folsom needs some help. Large crack running along main concourse, rust and decay just about everywhere. I guess I never really notice when I'm there for games, other than Balch being a dump. Even inside the East side club level needs some sprucing up, showing its age a bit now too with worn furniture, the old SD TVs, etc. Hopefully RG can put together some maintenance funds in addition to the new construction fundraising.

The club seating is rusting... which should never happen as all that's needed is to keep it painted

Really hate those white walls on the corner seating. Red sandstone cladding would dramatically improve the aesthetics.

Yeah but it stands out more. The sandstone would make it look much better. The parts that are white did not stand out before. It just looks weird.
Where else is there sandstone that low? It'd look more out of place given DW has the same style, as does the suite structure.

Totally agree. You tell me what looks better?

I would bet the sandstone fades a bit over time and won't look as "sharp" as it does right now, which will be a good thing.

I thought he was talking about the white insulation that is around almost the entire structure now.

We have been through the concrete thing many times here. Yes it would have likely looked better with the sandstone over most of that concrete wall, but the large expanses of banded concrete are not out of sync with the architectural language of the stadium. The banded concrete exists on the old stadium, Dal Ward, and the East Boxes. I would bet it was a cost saving measure vs the sand stone.

Are we certain they won't add cladding when they finish the rest of the facility?

EDIT - answered my own question. Maybe it won't look as out of place when everything is finished.

Well, don't leave us hanging - what's the answer?!?

But are they only going to sell tickets to people that are really that skinny? Might have trouble filling the seats if so.

What time of day would the pie-shaped nook get sun, but the monster wall of concrete stay in shade? Methinks Populous / Mortensen was using shadow to de-emphasize the multi-story wall of concrete.

People are correct, it's actually consistent with the rest of Folsom. But maybe it needs to be painted?

Bit of a stretch to make such a declaration. There is no wall of concrete with the same height or square footage of concrete anywhere else in the stadium. A concrete base on the ground level has flagstone above it, except on that wall. To argue the cement wall is consistent with the rest of Folsom is just not accurate.

If Tuscan vernacular Revival is the language of CU campus, that wall and pie-shaped nook is Ebonics.
