Let’s hope he’s dialed into Grimes/Choate than Bienemy/CalhounAs I said yesterday, Feldman is very dialed into coaching/agent circles.

Is it true that we ignored Bret ****ing Bielema for KD?
I heard that the other day and it made me want to put my head through a mirror.

There were rumors he interviewed.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope he turned us down. Unless we fire RG before we hire a new coach, it would mean we're depending on even bigger chuckleheads than I thought, which I didn't think was possible.
That's probably an understatement.Obviously hiring Dorrell was terrible, but I am not going to necessarily blame RG if he decided Bielema was not the guy. Not sure he comes across well in an interview setting.
It’d be encouraging if coordinators are being considered, rather than the “HC only” stuff Adam is sayingI think I would be paying close attention to Choate going forward.

Good call, forgot about that. I think I’d still prefer GrimesChoate technically fits the criteria Adam laid out.
No you are not.Am I the only one who hates the idea of Calhoun at CU? He’s got a great thing going at AFA but how much of what he’s doing translates to this job? I think very little. His teams are disciplined and play hard but great, they’re service academy kids. He has essentially zero P5 experience as a HC or assistant aside from 2 years at Wake 20 years ago. He hasn’t run or even been around a legit P5 recruiting operation, his coaching tree and connections for assistants are a huge unknown. And he runs an option offense that people keep telling me he wouldn’t necessarily run at CU. So what are you getting with him?
P5 experience? Not really
Built a program? No
Plus recruiter? No
Brings a defined system? Apparently no.
Deep connections in fertile recruiting grounds? No
Coaching connections? Not really (same OC for 13 years)

Well, the last hire had a "put some other guy's dirty underwear on and hope for the best" feel to it. So yeah, I could tweedle dee and tweedle dum going that direction. JMO.What about David Shaw if he gets fired from Stanford... smells like a PD/RG type of hire and wouldn't be the worst one if he was the guy
Hey I'm not pushing it, but it does feel like if he could make it work at Stanford he could make it work here....and there are definitely worse options out there. I'd personally be somewhat disappointed if it was Shaw, but again we could do worseWell, the last hire had a "put some other guy's dirty underwear on and hope for the best" feel to it. I know. I would just point out Shaw's last four years at Stanford have been crap. Why hire a guy whose star on the decline? You don't have to answer that, we are talking CU here.Hey I'm not pushing it, but it does feel like if he could make it work at Stanford he could make it work here....and there are definitely worse options out there. This is false. You can transfer out after your first or second year with no penalty. Not only that, but there is no *transferring out* of Air Force. Once theyre in, they owe the country time. They know that. It's a totally different recruiting game.
Edited for clarity. smh

Unless you are looking for a sumo....This doesn't scream great interviewee
No. Better than KD but nah. What about David Shaw if he gets fired from Stanford... smells like a PD/RG type of hire and wouldn't be the worst one if he was the guy
I don't know if we passed on Bielema or not, but after he flamed out at Arkansas it was reasonable to wonder whether his success at Wisconsin was just barry alvarez’s system. Is it true that we ignored Bret ****ing Bielema for KD?

Footballscoop said Calhoun probably gets a call, but doesn't think he's what RG wants.Let’s hope he’s dialed into Grimes/Choate than Bienemy/Calhoun
Interesting, I just can't quite thereI'm so so so down for grimes
I think Calhoun and Bieniemy are both really bad choices.Footballscoop said Calhoun probably gets a call, but doesn't think he's what RG wants.
I think Calhoun's a hell of a football coach, but I think if he wanted this job bad enough it would have already happened.
Bieniemy would definitely be. I don't think Calhoun would suck......there are guys we've talked about (Herman, Bronco, and Grimes to name 3) that I like a lot more.I think Calhoun and Bieniemy are both really bad choices.
He's in my top three if not the top.I'm so so so down for grimes
Calhoun would be an extremely low ceiling hire. He’s never recruited P5 players. How does he convince a recruit he knows how to help him get to the NFL? If the goal is to move from embarrassment to mediocrity and no longer be the worst program in the country then I guess he could do that. The only hire that would be lazier than Calhoun would be keeping Sanford.Bieniemy would definitely be.
