LIVE! Official CU vs Houston game thread - 9/12/25

I completely understand the amount of money HCP is bringing into the university is large, but at what point will the product on the field be more of a concern given his salary?

Here is a list of some of the highest-paid college football coaches in 2025, with approximate salaries:

  • Kirby Smart: (Georgia): $13.3 million
  • Ryan Day: (Ohio State): $12.5 million
  • Dan Lanning: (Oregon): $11 million
  • Dabo Swinney: (Clemson): $11.1 million
  • Steve Sarkisian: (Texas): $10.6 million
  • Deion Sanders: (Colorado): $10.8 million
  • Lincoln Riley: (USC): $10 million
  • Mike Norvell: (Florida State): $10 million
  • Kalen DeBoer: (Alabama): $10.25 million

They can't run the ball and it isn't talent, it's scheme. Because they can't run the ball defenses can attack the passer and kill the passing game. And the passing scheme is ridiculous with either chuck it up deep and lousy bubble screens that everyone knows are coming.
They actually got decent results in the end on very few called runs, 12 carries 60 yards. Most was the TD.

They never give the running game a chance to get a rhythm.

Run on first, pass on 2nd and 3rd.

Sometimes you have to run on 2nd and 9, or 3rd and 6 from midfield if you're going to establish the run.

Defense hasn't been terrible. Too many missed tackles but overall the defense hasn't been the problem. When the offense can't stay on the field and can't generate decent field position the defense is eventually going to break.

Shurmur owes everyone on the defense a huge appology, won't happen but this result is on him.

We have three coaches with legitimate résumé’s. Shurmer, he’s obviously bad. Jason Phillips is solid, although this game looks bad. And Livingston who seemed like a brilliant hire last year. Now Livingston is looking bad. So we have one good coach.
Helow belongs and I would say Bartolone is a solid coach, but yeah…

OL - Gunnar Helm, Andre Gurode and Hegamin???? WTF???
RB - Faulk… no coaching exp
QB - Shurmur… bad
DL - Sapp and Peko… no coaching exp
CB - Mathis… only JSU exp
LB - Hart… only JSU exp
S - Livingston… good position coach. We’ll see on DC
HC - Prime… only JSU exp

Prime’s differentiator was marketing/fundraising and talent acquisition. He’s aced the marketing and fundraising but talent acquisition is about a C right now.

play juju and if he looks good despite all the structural problems then he transfers. play salter and juju gets pissed and transfers. play staub and everyone scratches their heads and juju transfers.

we are not a well run machine here. ****.

Why were there 2 receivers within 3 yards of each other?
