LIVE! Official CU vs Houston game thread - 9/12/25

It seems like we are bickering as fans on the QB. I seen Tcal supporters talking about, you did Salt wrong. I just don't see Salt scoring more than 21 points so what was he going to do against Houston if they score 30+. If our defense is this bad, it doesn't matter if Shedeur is the QB, how do you win being this bad?
The defense did not receive help from an offense that had them on the field for major stretches of the game. The defense got stops and put the offense in positions to succeed only to be back on the field after another 3 and out. The defense’s failings were not independent of the offense’s inability to sustain drives.

Really? The defense was on the field for the first 9 minutes of the 3rd quarter. That has been the theme. Defense is soft, easily fooled and can't get off the field.

( I know the delicate genius won't see this)

Not to pick a fight here, but again this is a team loss. They both did enough to harm the other side. Houston had the longest sub 400 yard streak in all of FBS coming into this game. Colorado had 200ish yards going into the 4th quarter. Neither side is good enough right now. I say "well the offense turned it over twice" to which you'll reply "yeah and how many turnovers did the defense force?". Both are the issue. Running the ball was an issue. Stopping the run was an issue. Pass efficiency was an issue. Pass defense was an issue. Turnovers and penalties were an issue. Forcing turnovers and penalties was an issue. Converting on 3rd down was an issue. Stopping 3rd down conversions was an issue.

Like what do you look at here and say "ah, THAT's why we lost!". It was a defeat in every form and fashion.

And all of it boils down to coaching, or the lack thereof

$12 mil to prime and Livingston, 20.5 mil in NIL, pretty sure there's at least another 5-7 in coaches, etc. Maybe I rounded up a bit, but the point is still - this isn't a $35+ mil product we're getting
Gotcha, that makes sense. Thought you meant the Roster and I would be disappointed if our roster alone was $40M and it is not more 5*

Not sure I agree but PFF does. Gave the defense their highest grade of the season with a 79

Reason for this is Colorado had some of the most insane defensive stats this game.

54 TFLs
9 by Byard
An insane 25 hurries.

Issue is only 5 hits and 2 sacks.
UCLA game where CU OL got killed
7 sacks
14 hits
But 23 hurries
And 31 TFLs

Holy **** you're dumb. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the moon landing, the shape of the earth, and "dinosaurs".

You cant go by that because we know our backs can run. It's the OL run blocking. Too many TFLs

This OL since Tech hasn't really been able to get much of a push running the ball. Honestly, we did better last year before Cash started over Walker. We really need to figure out run blocking. Houston didn't do anything special like Tech or Delaware but they created lanes every single drive.
You can't give up on the run after like 5 handoffs.

They called passes at a 2+:1 ratio in the first half and last week as well. It's a line that features 4 transfers, you have to give them a chance to succeed.

If this staff gave up on the pass after an incompletion or tfl on a bubble screen like they do with the run each week, then we'd be throwing the ball a frequently as a service academy.

As good as people think Travis is, he's better. Having a guy like him elevates the team far beyond what it would otherwise be.
It's crazy that the intangibles and obvious character and leadership traits were possibly off the charts even more than his physical traits.

Players' "toughness" comes from having tough coaches. We have great, accomplished athletes, fine men, not much by way of tough attitudes.

As argued many times, these HofF guys have little to no coaching experience and because, truly, everything has come naturally to them, they don't always know how to teach and motivate. For guys like that, it was, "I try my hardest, I win my match-up". Sometimes you need techniques, added desire. repeat point: the fact no coach would tell CP to take a TO against Delaware showed assistant coaches afraid to assert themselves.

Go Buffs!
